Is It Bad That I'm Mainly A Player Fan In The Nba?

no that's pretty much what the Nba is now...maybe it was always that way. I dont know if it comes from the media, or if the media feeds off of it, but the coverage was always been pretty much focused around big name players, and not so much the teams. it feels more like boxing coverage.

I don't think so. Dywane Wade is one of my favorite players. The Flash. I get it. I am a Lakers fan but have ardently rooted for other teams because I fell in love with how other players played the game. Jordan was and will probably always be the greatest basketball player that I have ever seen. I have been watching basketball for quite some time and as much as I love the Lakers, Kobe Bryant will never be the player Jordan was. That is no slight on Kobe because MJ was the greatest ever. Kobe is a beast, though. But I have never seen a stone-cold ice in their blood killer on the court, like Jordan.

You get the feeling if he was playing his grandmother on the court, he would dunk on her, give her a hard foul, and do whatever it took to win.

But following and rooting for players over teams seems fine to me.

I have my team (pelicans), but I do appreciate watching other stars. I don't have the irrational hatred a lot of people do towards LeBron. Sure he isn't Jordan, but he is going to be considered one of the best and they'll ask 10 years from now looking for the next LeBron or Jordan. Two different type of players, but at the top of their respective game.

Now when we get onto Kobe, he's overrated IMO (in terms of "GOAT"), he has the rings and the points, but dude has had the benefit of arguably the best big man in the game (Shaq) and some of the better tier players in the league at their position on his second pair of rings (Odom as a 6th man, Bynum when he was healthy, Gasol, Artest, etc).

LeBron > Kobe

Kobe is DEFINITELY in the discussion of the greatest players ever to lace up. Easily top 10. Easily.

Wade? Really? Lol one of the best guards when he's healthy but I thought MJ would be the reason or if you're younger Kobe. I grew up playing ball so I always had a love for it, but to answer your question yes, yes it is. Cause once he retires you won't be watching much anymore, and how can any of us take you serious in basketball threads anymore lol. Jk, but seriously with his injury concerns, you must not have been watching much bball lately.

REALLY!?? If your argument is that Kobe had great players around him, how do you put Lebron ahead of him?? Lebron surrounded HIMSELF with Wade and Bosch... Bynum was/is a scrub, Odom, Artest and Gasol have done exactly ZERO out of Laker uniforms... I don't get your biased logic??

kobe_trophies_web.jpg

Lotta MVP trophies in that batch o' bling... you know, for a guy who was always surrounded by great players... BTW, how many rings did Jordan get without Scottie Pippen beside him? Heck, Jordan didn't even win his Olympic medal without Pippen next to him...

How are you gonna say all of that yet **** on the greatest post player ever in Tim Duncan

A guy who has never ever won less than 50 games in a full season

I wasn't shytting on Duncan; some of the things I said in the other thread I said in context of the discussion there, but in no way do I think Duncan is any less than a great player...

He's just under Robert Horry on my list of all time top players... Horry has more rings than Duncan; he won them playing on three different teams... that's three different sets of teammates and coaches, unlike Tim, who's had a consistent gameplan his entire career. Horry's never missed the playoffs and never been bounced in the first round.

7 Championships in 16 seasons... if you had Robert Horry on your team, you were almost 50/50 you were going to win the NBA Finals... :)

Always loved my Hawks.

I really liked Reggie Miller, especially during the 90s. His hatred for the Knicks was fun to watch.

I remember the game in the early 90s when he pissed off Jordan when he shoved him. In today's game, Jordan would have gotten thrown out for sure, unless he was given the Dwight Howard treatment.

I miss 90's NBA.

I also liked Stockton, but hated Malone because he is an @sshole.

I still really hate the Knicks because of Patrick Ewing, John Starks, and Anthony Mason(RIP).

i use to be a huge NBA Fan, I would even listen to the games on the radio before their was Sports South and such.... I Kinda lost interest in the mid 90s, and had not watched a complete NBA Game for yrs up till this yr, Hawks had the #1 seed , so i kinda watched their playoff run, it just dont appeal to me anymore for some reason, even during the playoffs this yr with the hawks being so good, i found myself thinking , Man I want to play X Box, Fuk this basketball game lol....

I dont ever see myself growing tired of the NFL tho lol

Not just the Falcons, I watch as much NFL as I can, atleast 4 games a week lol

have no clue why i all of a sudden lost Interest in the NBA....

Growing up, NO didn't have a basketball team. I was playing ball at the time so I watched it every day. I started watching LeBron when he was in HS. I remember watching St. Vincent-St. Mary's play Oak Hill and Melo. Once he came into the NBA, the Cavs were my team. I ran around screaming during game 6 of the ECF against Detroit when he scored like 27 straight or something like that.

Once we got the Hornets, my allegiance changed. I'm a huge Pels fan, but I definitely root for LeBron wherever he's at. If he and the Pels ever make the Finals though, **** LBJ.

Once you stole the Hornets..

You want some fries with that salt? 😁

Nah, Shinn was an *******. The mere fact that an owner moved a team partly because of his own sexual assault charges is crazy to me. There was no reason to move that team. Luckily for us, he was a ****.
