FentayeJones
Dont know much about him but it seems he was brought to the Redskins by the Shannahan's so he would fit scheme wise. Thoughts?ESPNs Adam Caplan, citing a league source, reports that the Redskins are releasing veteran G Chris Chester on Wednesday.Chester, 32, has one year remaining on his five-year, $20 million contract that included $6.5 million guaranteed. He would have made a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2015 season.According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Chester will free up $4 million in available cap space while creating $800,000 in dead money. In 2014, Chester appeared in all 16 games for the Redskins. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 33 guard out of 78 qualifying players. Edited May 27, 2015 by FentayeJones

Dirtybird56
We need competition at G so I'd be behind bringing him in
CraigSmackDaddy
Can't say I know anything about this guy but it sounds like he may be an upgrade over what we have at guard outside of Aso
falconidae
Think it's a good sign they cut him now- means they like him and want him to have a chance to catch on with another team. May be a strictly cap room move, not a lack of talent.
Beast-N-Da-Sheetz
Solid veteran, similar to Blalock, but he knows Shanahan's system. He's worth a look.
g-dawg
signing Polumbus over Barksdale says to me that Shanahan values familiarity of his system over talent level - which makes sense on some level. So, with Chester working under Shanahan for several years, I could see Chester coming in - if he still has gas left in the tank.
FentayeJones
Did a little more digging and hes definitely an outside zone blocking guard. He looked to be solid player - not great, but I dont know if his release was due to finances or performance. Falkonator
Would be a good stop gap Guard if anything, couldn't hurt to bring him in at this point.
Hashbrown3
Nothing to lose. Guy has to have a year or two in the tank. I bet we've contacted him...
malak07
Solid Veteran stop gap for us seems like a obvious move to make...Best case he's the starting LG and gives us a year to figure out a long term solution thereWorst case he's a solid vet guard for both the RG/LG position if someone goes down
TeamPlayer1
A big plus is that Chester did not miss a start in 4 years with the Redskins.
Tuggle'2
I would honestly be surprised if we aren't already in talks with him.
clownorg
While I'm not thrilled bringing in a 32year old especially when I wanna see some youth injection, I'm all for this signing if for nothing other than competition and helping to teach the system to the young guys
dozer
Bring him in to compete. We need all the bodies we can get on our OL. Hoping Shanny has already started lobbying for him.Redskins released RG Chris Chester.Chester, 32, has started all 64 games for Washington the past four seasons, but isn't a fit for coach Jay Gruden's power-blocking scheme at just 305 pounds. The veteran remained a serviceable guard last season, especially in pass protection, so he should get another look. The Redskins save $4 million against the cap with the move. Spencer Long is now the favorite at right guard.Related: Redskins Source: Adam Caplan on TwitterMay 27 - 10:30 AM

If we give this guy a contract like Polumbus got, I am fully on board. vets with familiarity with the system can be a big help as we transition. FalkenUK
Yup NFL.com reporting same...For the right price he should be a good stop gap for 2-3 years.I guess Shanny will know his value - started all 16 games for him last year...
