Really Like Our Ol Depth Too.

Recommended Posts

LT-Matthews, Holmes, Lefeld, Huffer

LG-Schraeder, Person, Smith

OC-Hawley, Stone, Ume-Ezeoke

RG-Asamoah, Konz, Gunn

RT-Baker, Polumbus, Rodgers

Thats three deep plus Replogle who I did not bother to list. The four rookies have a great shot at roster depth or atleast PS. I have really liked Lefeld's tape and would like to see him beat out Peron as back up OG. Would rather see Rodgers over Polumbus. Huffer should be PS, and Ume-Ezeoke could force 10 OL be kept like with Stone last year. Stone(OC/OG) and Holmes(RT/LT) would figure to be the two active back ups each week with rookies Rodgers, Lefeld, and or Ume-Ezeoke inactive. If Polumbus makes the team, I have to think Baker does not and the back up remain the same unless Holmes starts and Polumbus i the swing tackle. The one thing in the rookies favor is being selected by the new staff.

I think Schraeder is adequate at OT. In close quarters I think he is best suited with limited lateral agility and good strength vs power. People forget how well a healthy Baker performs at LT. He should be fine at RT if recovered, If not Holmes or Polumbus or Schraeder will be the RT, one will be the LG and the last will be the wing tackle. Again, I cant wait to see who wins what in position battles. Good rookie options for depth in Lefeld, Rodgers, and Ume-Ezeoke or else a strong PS. Stone is a good find and might be an option as LG. That would increase Ume-Ezeoke's chance as back up OC where I doubt Konz has much of a chance. Polumbus, Person, and Smith I think were brought in incase rookies are not ready. Stone winning starting LG spot would increase depth at OT and spell Bakers demise unless Baker wins RT outright. Schraeder and Holmes would once again be good depth. Lefeld and Rodgers would be fighting for back up OG against Person. They have options, many of which hinge on Bakers health, who wins LG, and how far rookies can develop.

Have you even seen all of these players play or are you just creating paper champions?

The thought of Sackmaker Baker at RT is just comical. That mofo never could run block at LT, but you want to put him at RT where you want your best run blocker? Got it.

And where did the idea of Shredder at LG come from? Did you hear this from somebody at the Branch or is this your idea? Person will likely be our starting LG. We signed him to a three year contract. He lined up at LG with the starting five in OTAs. Assuming everyone is healthy, we're probably looking at:

LT - Jake

LG - Person

OC - Brawley

RG - Asa

RT - Shredder

Yup, with Stone/Polumbus/Holmes/Gunn as depth I'm thinking.

Some of y'all TAFTers need to get your heads right on Schraeder... dude ranked out as a top RT last year. I'm serious. He is good.

Offensive line (like usual) will make or break this team. Lack of talent and or injuries could mean another losing season. But if we stay relatively healthy and find someone to play LG, we could easily go 10-6.

How can you say lack of talent..when everyone on the Oline besides rookies have played good at some point in their career and why do some of y'all act like with good coaching which we have some of these so called unproven o lineman can't revamp their career..We well have a awesome offense line this season. Ryan will be putting up career numbers in a positive way.

well i guess if matt ryan has another crappy year he can blame the oline once again as well as our fans

Matt Ryan's 'crappy years' are still better than the career seasons put out by 70% of the other NFL QBs.

ok there is a reason he does not get respect by others, he needs all pros all over the field, good guy and just an avg qb were.

Who is to blame for the 24th ranked rushing attack sporting a sub 800 yd, sub 3.8 ypc feature back? I would like to suggest the 5th ranked QB and the 3rd ranked WR league wide for hogging the ball. I do not suspect the OL had anything to do with it. Afterall Ryan was only the 15th most sacked QB, two more than Brees, which shows how average the OL was at pass pro. That figure though is elite considering how much Ryan threw the ball. Why did Steven Jackson toil in the back field picking up the blitz instead of carrying the team on his back to victory? With the OL opening four lane highways for the now released Jackson to stroll through we can only assume they did not want Steven to reach his monumental escalators. His contract might have tripled with 100 more carries. It is possible that the jettisoned OC Koetter is responsible for not running more despite the OL incredible abiliity to run block. It is as if he had little confidence in the run game, unaware of the OL's devastating run blocking, and was rather, willing to take his chances with the OL's incredible ability to pass block. The good news is we have a new OC so Teven Coleman should run for 4700 yds with Ryan passing for 2000.

we didnt run it cause we couldnt.

Couldnt consistently move guys off the LOS and create holes for RBs

Jackson and quizz both saw nothing but their oline backs when running the ball.

No reason to try tunning it just to get 2 or 3 yds. Been there done that with turner.
