Can Somebody Please Explain What Quinn Was Thinking

Recommended Posts

When he drafted a CB in the 2nd round? We had absolutely no need for another CB. Alford was fine and will only continue to improve. Now we have created an unneccesary log-jam at CB. There were better options to be had (Fisher\Gregory) yet we took a project with a bum foot. TD and Quinn really outsmarted themselves with this pick smh. This is what happens when you over-think things.

The only reason Ican thinkof is for the matchup issues we may have had with Tampa & Carolina's bigger WRers. We have to take care of business in the division first and by going for a talented bigger DB only helps with the matchup issues we may have had.

I wassceptical about the pick aswell but seeing the trend with the bigger WRers in the division the pick makes sense.

Unnecessary log-jam? Have you ever heard of camp competition?

One of them could transition to safety (where we have a deficiency) or drop one into nickel.

You do know that more than 2 CBs are used right?

You do know that our nickel McClain (who I loved in that position) isn't on the team anymore.. right?

There was absolutely no need for yet another CB to be drafted, let alone with our 2nd rounder.Especially considering the other options available that would have actually filled a need.

your list of needs or the staffs list of needs? That's what fans need to understand

It does fill a need if you think about it.

It gives us 3 legit guys who can play on the outside and if needs be Trufant can be used as theguy that shadows a teams best reciever so it makes us more versatile in how we defend an opponent.

And if he gets matched up with a speedy receiver he gets smoked. He wasn't even that good at LSU

Guess what it happens to all rookies its called learning. He's a perfect fit for what DQ looks for in a corner and probably is another reason why we picked him.

happens to the best in the game as well. So that is an irrelevant groan from him

If you think about it? Lol. CB was not a need. OLine, and anything other than CB on the D was a need. Yet we blew it on a project who will take several years to develope when we could have taken a better player at a major position of need who would have been able to contribute immediately.

This is where you aren't privvy to what the thought process inside the branch is.I see this guessing type stuff every off season.Just because what a fan percieves as a weakness maybe the coaching staff is happy what is there and has a plan on how we are to use what we have going foward.

How do you know Collins can'tcontribute immediately I don't know that so I don't speculate like may others will.

Saints have nobody. Panthers have KB but no problem for Trufant. And the Bucs have no QB so who cares how many weapons you have. CB was a luxury pick this team could not afford. Quinn and TD tried to get too cute with the pick when the obvious pick should have been Fisher or Gregory who would have contributed tremendously to this team.

Tampa are big the Panties have just added Funchess.

CB isn't a luxury pick.

The NFL is a passing & a match-up league QB's like to throw the ball if you can'tmatch-up your done.

I can still remember quite a few years ago we lost every starting CB we had to injury. Our DB coach was running down the sideline coaching a street free agent on the fly to finish out a game.

You can never have 'enough' solid DBs.

We lost quite a few CBs to Free Agency, and the only guy we picked up was Adams. We had a need for another CB. Quinn felt like the 2nd round was a good place to take one.

It has nothing to do with matching up with the big WRs in the division. We needed a CB2. Simple as that. Alford is a nickel corner which alot of us have been saying for a long time. Quinn stated that were going to be in nickle about 50% of the time. So Alford is still a big part of this defense. Also Collins is a good talent alot of people had him going first round. His biggest problems is technique which is coachable what's not coachable is his height and athleticism.
