RED_N_BLACK_98
the second coming of the '85 Bears defense and some of you will still complain. Before we even know what these young kids can do, I see someone throwing around the word "flawed".What gives? Hashbrown3
Even if we're the first coming of the Quinn era, I think a solid improvement on the defensive side of the ball will result in a falcons turnaround... POINTS PER GAME 12TH23.80 PPG POINTS ALLOWED PER GAME 27TH26.10 PPG (Allowed) YARDS PER GAME 8TH378.20 YPG YARDS ALLOWED PER GAME 32ND398.30 YPG (Allowed)If we stay roughly the same on O, and improve at least moderately with these pathetic numbers, then our W-L column should improve quite a bit. Not to mention the mental errors by Smith no longer costing us a game or two... DQ will not be outcoached from a cerebral standpoint. OMG, we'll finally do some in-game adjusting and proactively attack opposing teams.aaaahhhh, refreshing...
Coeus
I honestly believe everyone will be pleasantly surprised by our team this season. I don't think Quinn can do any worse on defense than last year. If our defense steps it up even moderately this year and our offense produces like we know it can, we'll be competitive with just about anyone in the league, what more could you ask for from a first time first year head coach? My personal concern and question marks lie with the offensive line. How will they be able to handle the transition? Do we have enough talent? Edited May 19, 2015 by Coeus
nc_falcon
I'd rather the 77 falcons

TwinFields
What better choice can you make as a defensive headcoach to join a team with a top 10 offense (stats are off because they forced themselves in close games) and has the 32nd team in defense! He can't do any worse on defense and his offense is managed by Shanahan. (if they underachieve he will get less blame) Even nowadays 1 + 1 is still 2. Nino11
If Mike Smith can come in and turn around a 4-12 team to 11-5 Quinn would need to at least get us to the playoffs to deserve the praise (and slander of Smith).I don't wanna expect to much the first year but the team was way more devoid of talent in 07 then it is now to me

Plus, we know we will have some semblance of a running game this year since pass happy Koetter is gone.
MR Falcon
The 85 Bears Def.was slightly weaker version of the 77 Falcons Def.Just imagine 77 Falcons Def.with the 80 Falcons Off...thats been our problem we have had a off.and not a def. or we've had a def. and no off..But maybe we can have both now, hope so. One FG allowed away from a top 10 offense and defense in 2008. SmittyBall.

This is in points - not yards, right? This was due to our running game. Hardly our defense. Even though i do believe we were ok against the run. falconidae
Think most of the criticism is coming from a vocal minority who are unhappy their favorite player didn't picked at 8.Most people's reaction is anything from cautious optimism to unbridled optimism.
