Atlanta Falcons: Where Do They Rank In Pro Football Focus? Defense

Recommended Posts

Kroy Biermann 42nd of 59 (-5.7 grade)

The Falcons struggled to get any pass rush going in 2014, and these grades highlight this. Biermann could take a backseat role in 2015 with the additions of Vic Beasley and Adrian Clayborn.

Malliciah Goodman 54th of 59 (-13.3 grade)

Goodman wont be relied upon in 2015 so much, and will likely fight it out for a roster spot at the position. He can be a useful piece, but it was a disappointing season for him.

Jonathan Babineaux 28th of 81 (+2.7 grade)

The Falcons were better inside at defensive tackle, and Jonathan Babineaux graded better than any other Falcon at this position. He could find himself used on rotation this year, however.

Corey Peters ranked 34th (plus-0.9); Paul Soliai ranked 47th (minus-2.0); Tyson Jackson ranked 56th (minus-3.8).

Justin Durant 17th of 40 (+3.0 grade)

Durant was one of the big free agency moves the Falcons made this offseason in Dan Quinns defensive overhaul. Durant could be the starting weak-side linebacker for Atlanta moving forward.

Brooks Reed 26th of 46 (+2.5 grade)

Brooks Reed was another free agency move by the Falcons, and he could line up as the strong-side linebacker moving forward. Quinn will be hoping the duo of Durant and Reed will be able to help the pass defense rise from the bottom of the NFL rankings.

Paul Worrilow 59th of 60 (-22.0 grade)

Will Paul Worrilow be the starting middle linebacker? He has a lot to work on, but is young and will benefit in Quinns system with a better supporting cast.

Desmond Trufant 6th of 108 (+13.5 grade)

Trufant was a rare bright spot on the defense last year. He was great in coverage, which earned him a plus-9.1 grade. There is absolutely no question that Trufant will be a starter in 2015.

Robert Alford 81st of 108 (-6.2 grade)

With the addition of Jalen Collins via the draft, Alfords long-term future could be in the slot, with Collins playing outside. He would be best suited in that role and it would benefit the Falcons secondary.

William Moore 75th of 87 (-6.3 grade)

Going forward, William Moore will likely be the starting strong safety, and he will benefit from a strong group of corners around him.

What do you think of these grades? Do you agree with them, or are they way off the mark? Be sure to let us know.

Stop saying "we" when your only positive post was in reference to defending the Bucs and talking about how good they'd be this year. You aren't a Falcons fan, Bucs fans/Saints fans/Panthers fans are plenty welcome here, but trolling isn't. Your facade isn't even subtle.

how about we talk about the topic and not me, gracias senorita.

side note I said Winston will be successful because of his receivers, but as a team the bucs will still be the trash of the nfc south

I've yet to see a Falcons fan get accused of being a rival fan and not take offense to it.

I know that I'd be ashamed if I was associated with the Saints dirty underhanded cheating ways, or the Panthers Towel Boy at QB, or the Bucs well...nah, too easy.

the internet is no place to be offended. Just got to call it like u see it. How zone 6 raised me. Call me what u want, it's not gonna change how I choose to be a fan and express my views of a team I spend my **** money supporting.

Beer could take a back seat to Beasley, Clayborn or Schofield, but that PFF score is a little misleading. He had a -10.7 in his first eight games but turned it up a notch in his last eight with a +5.0, which was boosted by 4.5 sacks and better run defense. I believe Quinn re-signed him for a reason. If he comes in here playing like he finished the 2014 season, somebody will be taking a back seat to him.

P.S. - I'll take PFF over the eye tests of clueless TATFers any day. They are for the most part spot on. No TATFer watches every play, of every game, of every team and grades them with the same grading system. Nobody.

There's a reason for that, and it's not because it's such a genius system.

Trolls posing as Falcon fans, while perhaps funny at one point in time, has been done so much on this board that it can be seen a mile away. Trust me, you're not half as slick as you think you are pal.

As for PFFfft, I'll say what i said in the other PFF thread. A crackpot website started by scam artists releasing half-assed nonsense in an attempt to swindle clueless fans. It should be illegal to get away with this type of charlatan scum.

His avatar is a dead giveaway. It's like the one that used the crying Falcons kid as his avatar with a Saints fan behind it. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised is they're the same person.
