Is Collins The Best Cb Quinn And His Staff Has Had To Work With?

Recommended Posts

Now I'm not saying that he's better then Sherman, Maxwell etc but in terms of raw attributes to work with is he the best?

Quinn love's fast CB with length we all know this. However the one 'knock' on these guys is agility and hip stiffness. Now Jalen completed the 3 cone in 6.77 which is exceptional especially given the fact he's 6"2 200lbs.

Again I'm not saying he's better or ever will be but in terms of a raw skill set to mold, is he the best?

let's at least wait until training camp begins to start making these guesses. A few times getting beat by Julio will probably have you singing a different tune

But he's already posted his combine numbers and gone through the scouting process.. Not really a 'guess' when talking about raw potential. More of an inference.

lol if that's what ya wanna go by, suit yourself.

But surely that's what these message boards are for? Projecting, having opinions right or wrong. Nobody knows obviously but from the information we do have I thought it was a valid question. Hindsight is overrated IMO.

Based on physical attributes(speed,agi,accel,jumping etc)

Tru,Collins and Alford prob are the best he has had to work with.

Based on talent tho, time wi tell,Trufant is prob the 2nd best corner he will have worked with based on overall talent, time will tell on Collins and possibly King as well.

Richard Sherman

BENCH PRESS: 16 REPS

BROAD JUMP: 125.0 INCH

3 CONE DRILL: 6.82 SEC

20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.33 SEC

60 YARD SHUTTLE: 11.44 SEC

Byron Maxwell

6' 202lbs

40 YARD DASH: 4.46 SEC

BENCH PRESS: 24 REPS

VERTICAL JUMP: 33.0 INCH

BROAD JUMP: 124.0 INCH

Jalen Collins

6'1 203lbs

40 YARD DASH: 4.48 SEC

VERTICAL JUMP: 36.0 INCH

BROAD JUMP: 124.0 INCH

3 CONE DRILL: 6.77 SEC

20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.27 SEC

60 YARD SHUTTLE: 11.32 SEC

Based on Measurables, Collins compares fairly well to Sherman, with improved numbers in everything excluding vert.

Talent will be the big question. While Sherman was basically written of as nothing more than a back up with great press skills, poor technique and ball skills.

Collins has been considered the best prospect, with the most potential by some scouts(namely Mike mayock),his big knock has been lack of starts(althoufht he played in well over 26games)

Desmond Trufant

6' 190lbs

40 YARD DASH: 4.38 SEC

BENCH PRESS: 16 REPS

VERTICAL JUMP: 37.5 INCH

BROAD JUMP: 125.0 INCH

20 YARD SHUTTLE: 3.85 SEC

Measurables alone trufant is more gifted than Sherman and we know what Tru brings to the field. With Quinn and Morris, could we see trufant become better than Sherman?

Akeem King

6'3 212

Pro Day Results

40-yard dash: 4.41 seconds

Vertical jump: 37 1/2 inches

Broad jump: 10 feet, 2 inches

Short shuttle: 4.38 seconds

3-cone: 7.08 seconds

Bench: 20 reps of 225 pounds

Some insane numbers for his size, very raw prospect, don't know much about him, development will be interesting.

Robert Alford

5'10 188lbs

40 YARD DASH: 4.39 SEC

BENCH PRESS: 17 REPS

VERTICAL JUMP: 40.0 INCH

BROAD JUMP: 132.0 INCH

3 CONE DRILL: 6.89 SEC

20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.23 SEC

.measurables stand out once again. Talent is there just needs more work.

Basically this is all you can go off of,right now. Physical attributes and measurable this group is more gifted than the top 2 Corners Quinn has worked with while in Seattle

Maxwell and Sherman are 2 Stud corners who where developed properly into a proper scheme that fit their strengths, the talent was their.

We have corners with the potential to be better than Sherman(Trufant,Collins) and Maxwell(Alford, king) but we will see in time.

Idk if this is what you where looking for but this may be the best way to get the answer you may be seeking.

Measurables are only part of the equation. How much of the molding process comes from attitude, drive and determination?

Only Quinn could really give an opinion on this, and couldn't really even do that before working with him.

Wait 3 years and then see where Collins is compared to the other CBs Quinn developed. That'll give you the answer you seek.

Akeem King has been my guy since before the draft when I saw we worked him out. Naturally I said who is this after the workout, then I looked up some stuff on him and was highly impressed with his fluid range of motion considering his size. He's going to surprise some people.

All of our corners have an advantage because they get to go against White and Jones in practice. Obviously that won't make up for a lack of talent but it will be helpful.

He's already established himself. That's a no brainer. I was more talking about when each of those rookies turned up at the first training camp

I was going to try to answer the question, but I've decided to wait until you stop moving the goalposts around like a carousel.

Let me know when you're done.

this is very true, measurables is the only thing we can go off of right now, if we wanna include game tape and where they where drafted than that makes the question easier to answer based On where tru,Alf,and Collins where drafted

Didn't realize Tru had that fast of a 20 yard shuffle. That's exceptional quickness.
