Bring It
I don't buy this c.rap that Beasley "can't play the run". Bull. He's an exceptional gifted athlete that can be coached to do anything asked of him. Period. Side note : On the day of Round 1 of the Draft, Bill Polian asked Todd Gurley "Who was the best defensive player you ever faced" ?? Answer : Vic Beasley. If Beasley is so terrible against the run.......why would the PREMIER RB of 2014 college football who RUNS THE BALL rate hiim the BEST ?? Enough of this c.rap. Beasley is a TOP Defensive rookie NFL player who will have some of the best NFL coaching around. We'll see if he can "play the run".

It's certainly not a liability as some would have us believe. It's like all these idiots that were questioning Matt Ryan's Arm strength. Who the **** cares when the rest of his game is so strong! atljbo
i dont think he was bad at the run ... I do think he went thru the motions against the run sometimes... Beasley Reference this at his press conference saying he will give it his all on every play nowI'm not to worried about this tho ... A guy can improve his run defense .. Beasley is a strong guy ... He will improve that part of his game .... I want a guy that can rush the passer right now

Not with quickness and agility........Beasley has the advantage there. And............he will ONLY get better. He's just scratching the surface. I have tons of faith in this coaching staff to hone the skills needed to be Great.

I think he played against Beasley twice and had 350 yards and 5 TDs.Maybe he couldn't pass block him.Even if Beasley sucks against the run on this level, as long as he terrorizes NFL QBs, I'm satisfied. Here are a couple Gurley reels vs Clemson. Maybe we can zero in on Beasley and see how he performed against the run:
toadfishtom
John Gruden kept bringing that up during the draft .It's a non issue and Gruden is a wind bag.
Moist Words
The only time I'm worried about how well he stops the run is when the opposing QB is running from Grady Jarrett.
g-dawg
Beasley did not play the run well when being run at - he was good chasing runs down on the back-side in pursuit. Can Beasley get better against the run? YES - will he ever be great against the run? PROBABLY NOT.Honestly, if Beasley can just be average or almost average against the run and hunt QBs, Falcons will be just fine.
Da_Truth
If he can chase down the quarterback he can sure do the same against a running back. It's just persistent effort and discipline to hold the edge.
FalconFanSince1970
Here are some highlights of Beasley vs UGA in 2014. Probably terrorizing Gurley against the pass: OK highlight may have been a bad description. Couldn't find his 2013 tapes. I know he had some sacks against UGA. Maybe they're in this vid:
paulitik
I don't remember John Abraham being great against the run, and I'd take a young John Abraham all day long. We probably passed on a lot of great passrushers because we were unsure of their run stopping ability in the Smitty era. All that got us was a whole lot 3rd and longs getting converted against us, and rookie QBs looking like Hall of Famers. As long as he affects the QB, I'll take a slight liability against the run. Maybe we can zero in on Beasley and see how he performed against the run: 1st play they ran strong side. 2nd play as best I could tell Beasley wasn't in the game at all (it was a 3 down lineman heavy package). If he was in the game he got double teamed. 3rd play they ran up the middle and Beasley was pursuing but couldn't get there. 4th play, if he was lined up where I think he was, Beasley was well blocked and didn't get to Gurley. I couldn't see his number on the play, though, so it's hard to tell. I'm not sure it demonstrates anything at all, honestly. I haven't yet watched the 2nd one. KRUNKuno
Let me not post the FSU game where he got abused by the run all game long including the final play of the game. He even acknowledge his lack of run defense and effort.Yes he can rush the passer. But in college he was a below average run defender that took plays off and wasnt relentless is his pursuit of plays moving away from him. toadfishtom
Would you rather have a power hitter who gives you 40 home runs and 120 rbis? with a 260 average? Or a singles hitter with a 300 average and 75 rbis ?

Jesus
There's 11 guys on the field if 4 of them are in the secondary and of the remains 7, only one can't handle the run well we still have the majority of our guys on the field to stop one running back. This isn't college anymore. A single running back rarely dominates in the NFL anymore and if one does, well take Beasley off the field until we force them to pass again. Guest Negatorris
Beasley is as athletic as Julio at his position. There is no question that he can be coached to play the run better.

RunS Batted In. I know it sounds weird to say, "I had 120 RBI," but it is correct. / personal pet peeve Edited May 11, 2015 by Falcon Ben
