The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed tackle Matt Huffer and defensive back Jonathon Mincy and waived defensive tackle Chris Brown, cornerback Jordan Ozerities and wide receiver Joshua Stangby

Mincy, 5-10, 196 pounds, was a three year starter at Auburn where he collared 211 career tackles. He was named a second team All-SEC selection by the conferences coaches in 2014. Mincy is a native of Decatur, Georgia and attended Southwest DeKalb High School

Brown, 6-3, 333 pounds, played at Tarleton State and clocked a 5.52 in the 40-yard dash, a 26-1/2-inch vertical and 8’2” in the broad jump, as well as a 5.06 20-yard short shuttle and an 8.16 second mark in the three-cone drill at his pro day.

Ozerities, 5-10, 186 pounds, played in 47 games, including 28 starts for Central Florida while totaling 164 tackles (111 solo), nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, six interceptions two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and 19 passes defensed.

Stangby, 5-11, 185 pounds, earned All-KCAC honors for the second straight season after posting 52 receptions for 958 yards and 13 touchdowns for Ottawa University in 2014.

After reading what I did about Chris Brown, had the feeling he might not be cut out to be a Falcon.

As for cap ramifications-

Stangby and Ozerities each contribute $1,000 to the dead money stack. Not sure on Brown yet but will try to find out (betting it's $1k). $2k of dead money minimum...

Glad Mincy caught on. Many of these guys like Huffer dont have much info available. Ozerties looked aweful I dont know why he was signed instead of a try out. We should have a spot left to fill minus 3 plus two. Austin Dodge is only 6-1, 210 pounds but he is quite accurate down the field. I would like to see him come to camp. Marcus McMorris I thought had some good tape too.

McClure was commenting on how Cox was chewing out Brown, saying that we found our new cupcake.

Nope, this year...cupcake just gets cut.

might as well give Mbu and Hevili more reps at backup NT if they have a shot to make the roster.

Three guys cut after two days of a mini camp? These guys must have been so far out of their element that it was painfully obvious that they'd never make it.

Not necessarily - but they can only sign 90 - and if they sign any others after 90 have been signed - they have to cut.

It could be those guys were better suited for a different scheme - or that others were just better or a combination of any number of things.

If they have aspirations of playing in the NFL, I hope they learned from this experience and keep trying until there is no more they can do.
