We Have A Young Team

Recommended Posts

I'm flirting with stating the obvious here but I just really got to thinking about it. If we look at a lot of our starting quality players on this 2015 team, There aren't a lot of older vets on this team.

Obviously I didn't include everyone on special teams and just guessed at guys that I think will get some playing time this year

As you can see there are only 4 guys 30 or older and 5 guys that are 29. One of those 29 yr olds is MR2 and we know he's still in his prime.

What this means to me:

I doubt we "put it all together" and have this amazing team this year but we have a solid nucleus of young talent that we can build on for the next year or two and I think this team can really become special soon.

I think you guys missed the tone of what I'm trying to convey here.

I think it's GOOD that we finally stopped signing old, washed-up vets and actually have young talent that is entering the prime of their careers.

We have more young injury prone players then young guys entering their prime.

It's actually a good thing to have a young team since we have a new coach. He's not going to have as many problems with them "unlearning" years of another coach's system. Some will inevitably struggle, but if the younger players want to see the field, they need to soak up everything they see presented with in the classroom and apply it to the practice field.

i think being young hurt the team the last two years (and injuries which was really the contributing factor in 2013) we lost so many close games and the consistency and effort just wasn't there but the last two seasons have developed some of those young guys and if a few take a step to vet status and not still young prospect they'll be contending for a playoff spot maybe even more if they all really jelled together
