Kevo
Temps have been hitting the '90's here and my a.c. has bit the dust! This truly sucks! Not only the heat...but, having to spend thousands to get it replaced really sucks! The silver linings are that it's not peak summer yet and by getting a new unit now, I won't have to pay the piper later.

It's about $70 a month, and it covers almost everything in the house including AC units. The deductible is $70, a repairman will come out and try to fix the problem, if they can't they will replace whatever the issue is all for the $70I used it last summer when my unit went out and they ended up replacing the whole thing with a new unithttps://www.oneguardhomewarranty.com

Bigtime A
Not a fan of home warranties. With deductible that's almost $1k a year to repair/replace appliances that are almost all less than $1k. I've only ever recommended it to first time home buyers that didnt have much extra cash available. If your system is an older R12, you might want to go ahead and swap out whole system for 410a, not just buy a dry charge condenser or inside unit to replace the one that went bad. It's obviously a significant amount more, but with greater saving in electricity usage, it ends up being a lot cheaper in long run.

NawlinsLady
Set that window unit up in your bedroom, or block the doors to the den. After Katrina we had a working window unit in the computer room. It got moved to the bedroom, as did a microwave and small fridge. Saved our bacon for about 6 months!

But, hopefully this situation will be remedied by the weekend.

We've got one window unit in the den that we're building and it's been working all day to try to cool down the rest of the house.I got 3 man lol. 1 in the kitchen, 1 in the bedroom and an extra to throw in the first bedroom just in case it gets too hot. We have central but I'm not gonna pretend I make the type of money to pay a $500+ electric bill every month. On a hot day, that ***** won't turn off
