Begotten912
Strictly speaking as far as the narrative coming from the sports media, nobody seemed to have a problem with Clowney going #1 overall. Once in a generation athlete, all that. Both set school records for sacks. Both were All Americans. Clowney had a couple more SEC-related awards. Both ran the same 40 time at the combine, with Beasley blowing him out of the water in just about every other event.Beasley didn't have any of the nagging injuries or questions about his character or motor that Clowney did going into the draft. So why was Clowney a unanimous #1 overall talent, while we still hear people saying Beasley was a reach even at #8? Monolith2001
Anyone who has seen my posts knows I am a Beasley homer but Clowney is a more complete DE on top of what Beasley has shown and better than any edge guy in this draft (at his best). The knock on Clowney was that he would take plays off or even ride the bench at clutch times leading to his output being uneven. Beasley is every good as Clowney in terms of getting after the QB IMO. Beasley is a good fit for our system but maybe not so much for a lot of NFL teams. Edited May 5, 2015 by Monolith2001

Tribal Chief
Because he didn't make a massive, highlight reel hit in a bowl gamethat hit was beastly. All ####### aside, I saw footage of him when he was in high school. Dude was a force. There was one play where he ran a guy down that was about to score. Clowney was the only one who gave full effort.
Karst41
Who gives a rats asz about all the press that Clowney got.Has the guy even played a notable game yet?The only thing that matters is the game day results, and my money is onthe Beasz! Tribal Chief
It's high school footage so I'm sure it means nothing to yall but dude was a man amongst boys. He so deserved all the hype he received
Guest Mr Plow
I've always felt Clowney was HUGELY overrated, mostly by the media. He wasn't even a first or second team All-American, his final year in college was well below average, and even his own coach questioned his work ethic and dedication to the game. Yet virtually all the media "journalists" fell all over themselves declaring him the once in a generation talent.

Guest
Regardless of what Clowney did/didn't do he deserved #1 Bump Coach Spurrier with all his talk we already understood why Clowney didn't give it his all the dude was NFL Ready out of High School I saw his highlight flim and watched him play as well.Trust me if he comes back from this better than ever he'll be a terror for years to come. Even if he doesn't he still (at the time was the best player in CFB at the time). Also too Vic Beasley came out with two guys named Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston...............So there is that. Whenever you got Two Hyped QB's in a draft class that's a wrap the other players won't get as much publicity. Butudontseeme™
Btw. I heard one of the PFF nerds on NFL radio before the draft say that Beasley scored slightly positive versus the run last year. This dispels a myth that even I believed, that he can't play the run.

Dude has been a beast since way back. I didn't want the Falcons to trade the farm for him last year like others did but I'm not foolish enough to say he didn't deserve the hype
