You Know You Have A Bad Team When......

You could start 5 of your 7 rookies drafted, and the other two will help on special teams.

This is why, even if the Bucs play way over their heads, I don't see them being able to make much noise yet,

TAMPA, Fla. -- This might be overly optimistic, but it’s possible the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have five rookies in the starting lineup on opening day, and two more playing key roles on special teams.

At least on paper, all seven of Tampa Bay’s draft picks have a shot at playing time right off the bat. That’s far more than the typical team, which usually ends up starting one or two rookies. But the Bucs did such a good job drafting for need that every draft pick will have a chance to play.

Quarterback Jameis Winston, the No. 1 overall pick, is an instant starter and should provide an upgrade over what Josh McCown and Mike Glennon did last season. Second-round pick Donovan Smith also is expected to start immediately at left tackle.

It’s a long road from Division III Hobart to an NFL starting lineup, but it looks like Ali Marpet, another second-round pick, could make that jump. The Bucs traded up for Marpet, so it’s obvious they have big plans for him. He will compete with Patrick Omameh for the starting job at right guard.

The Bucs were happy with the play of Danny Lansanah at strongside linebacker last season, but Lansanah is a journeyman and teams always are looking to upgrade. Fourth-round pick Kwon Alexander will get a chance to compete with Lansanah for the starting job.

It’s rare for a seventh-round pick to end up in the starting lineup immediately, but Joey Iosefa is going to get that chance. The Bucs don’t have a lot of other options at fullback, and Iosefa could be a starter.

The Bucs drafted wide receivers Kenny Bell and Kaelin Clay in the fifth and sixth rounds, respectively. With Vincent Jackson and Mike Evansaround, Bell and Clay have no chance at starting. But both have experience as return men and could fill that role for the Bucs.

Hey it may be a good thing lol. It's not like you guys could get much worse so what's the risk...

Yeah the Falcons had rookies all over the field last 2 years. Now i admit we sucked record wise. But those reps where valuable and that experience should help going forward. In the South wacky things seem to happen, so i wouldn't right off the Bucs. Injuries seem to be what gets teams wrote off.

No doubt Smith is rebuilding his team and we don't know what that final product could end up being. What they lack in experience they may make up in heart.

Id say the sign of a bad team is when you try and buy a SB ring or become dream team 2.0 (the kiss of death). Neither version seems to ever be the team at the end.

Took some good steps to improve that O-Line, but I don't see much at DE/passrush. DTs and LBs look good, but secondary looks shaky.

Agreed, the secondary and pass rush look weak. I believe the hope is these guys they've brought in as FAs are all familiar with Lovie's version of the Tampa 2, and for the returning players like Verner and David, having that one year experience in it will help substantially.

They took steps In the right direction, this is why we can't change regimes Every other year. Make a plan, stick with the plan, then build the plan.

Next year DE, secondary, And perhaps another oline. But ishh is coming together.

It sure looks like it is, but after the train wreck of a plan they had last year, I'm more than a little gun-shy. I choose to look at it as if L&L planned for last season to be a throw away, just so they could land their quarterback. After listening to everything Licht has said since the draft regarding Winston, I believe it even more. They've been dreaming about getting this guy in a Buccaneer uniform since they were both hired.

They absolutely quit against the Saints. They had Winston on their mind for that game.

I think L&L did the entire second half of the season, which is why Lovie put McClown back in once he was healthy, even though it was quite apparent Glennon was the better of the two quarterbacks. They wanted Winston bad.....

I just hope it doesn't blow up in their faces.

Remember there wasnt even a qb competition in camp, Glennon only played due to mcclowns stupid thumb.

How could you outright declare a inferior qb the starter just like that if L&L didnt have a plan, and here i was thinking Lovie was stubborn to a fault. He was jus sticking to his tank plan.

That said..........We'd better go at least 12-4 this season!!!

JB got that good stuff!!

Your plan to tank works to perfection like there's did, the plan to win ought to be able to work to equal perfection. You know how hard it is to suck that bad.....that you're guaranteed to get the first pick?
