How In The World Did We Pass On Todd Gurley? Jeez

457 posts in this topic

hey OP, will you eat crow if Coleman has a better rookie year than Gurlie?

No but he'll whine if any player selected is outperformed by anyone drafted later

Come on FFS70...we got a big, fast, running back...guess what he's good in pass protection.

With a Beasley on top...we won.

Gurley was the guy only if we missed on dudes like Williams, Fowler, or Beasley

Water under the bridge guys. I wanted to Todd Gurley as well but these folks know a lot more than we do.

You're not going to be banned, and you shouldn't be.

You are going to be ridiculed until you show some humility and enough common decency to pick a horse and ride it instead of trolling the board by changing your position to fit your "Dimi sucks, son, trust me" narrative, and you should be.

End Thread// The guy picks out several "lock" picks so he can do the "toldyaso" dance. Rather than get behind what we did do in Atlanta. That's so juvenile it raises the hairs on my neck.

I feel the same way of that other thread FF70 made where you do your own "redraft" to CYA and set yourself up for future trolling. It accomplishes nothing.

I see who the mofo is and it's bush league. I do respect opinions however. But this I must label as lame bs....

Cmon man! I mean all the passrusher stuff you threw out there in the past and now we address our #1 need on a flat out stud who should have been gone at 8, and now it's gurley time. So we smash #8 pick with the Beaz, then turn around and still slay a top 3 RB in the third, and we get the gurley mofo blueplate special... wtf???

"Post digger?"

It was LAST MONDAY. You said you wanted Beasley over Gurley LAST MONDAY.

And you're lying about what you said. I quoted and provided a link to what you said. Of course, that's cool, because you were lying then, too. The only thing you're not lying about is you don't like Dimitroff. You're entitled to not like him. I'm not particularly fond of him myself. But this entire thread is a troll thread. Sorry you got your knickers in a bunch because I exposed it.

You need to sharpen your post digging skills son. Get help from Coop or Idae. They're good at it. You missed this one somehow:

OK, here is my 4/30/15 off season retooling plan update. Still using my original thread as the Mods requested. This update includes my final draft mock. We are still $18.4M under the cap, which leaves enough room for a couple free agents, the draft class and an emergency fund. With the proposed post camp cuts, we could even front load a couple extensions and still have some carryover.

Free Agents (2) - Brandon Spikes, Joe Barksdale

Post Camp Cuts (6) - Sam Baker, Charles Godfrey, Cliff Matthews, Stansly Maponga, Michael Person and Nate Stupar (unless they rise up)

Draft Picks (8) - My top eight round one Falcon picks in order are Williams, Fowler, Gurley, Beasley, Dupree, Waynes, Sherff and White. Ray and Gregory slid down and Gurley moved ahead of Beasley. I just think Beasley will have issues stopping the run and dropping in coverage for a couple years. I expect Williams and Fowler to be gone by eight so it's Gurlie to Atlantie for me:

1 - RB - Todd Gurley

2 - DE - Owamagbe Odighizuwa

3 - LB - Lorenzo Mauldin

4 - FS - Adrian Amos

5 - OG - Shaq Mason

6 - CB - Nick Marshall

7 - FB - Zach Zenner

7 - WR - Antwan Goodley

Some of these prospects may go sooner and others I like will drop to our range, so I will add a post draft update to indicate who I would have taken at those slots.

Offense - (25)

QB (2) - Matt Ryan, T. J. Yates

RB (4) - Todd Gurley, Devonta Freeman, Antone Smith, Zach Zenner

FB (1) - Patrick DiMarco

WR (6) - Julio Jones, Roddy White, Devin Hester, Leonard Hankerson, Eric Weems, Antwan Goodley

TE (3) - Tony Moeaki, Jacob Tamme, Levine Toilolo

OT (4) - Jake Matthews, Joe Barksdale, Ryan Schraeder, Lamar Holmes

OG (3) - Jon Asamoah, Shaq Mason, Peter Konz

OC (2) - Joe Hawley, James Stone

Defense - (25)

DE (5) - Owamagbe Odighizuwa, Kroy Biermann, O'Brien Schofield, Adrian Clayborn, Malliciah Goodman

DT (4) - Jonathan Babineaux, Ra'shede Hageman, Paul Soliai, Tyson Jackson

OLB (5) - Justin Durant, Brooks Reed, Lorenzo Mauldin, Joplo Bartu, Prince Shembo

ILB (2) - Brandon Spikes, Paul Worrilow

CB (5) - Desmond Trufant, Robert Alford, Nick Marshall, Ricardo Allen, Phillip Adams

FS (2) - Dezmen Southward, Adrian Amos

SS (2) - William Moore, Kemal Ishmael

Specialists - (3)

LS (1) - Josh Harris

P (1) - Matt Bosher

K (1) - Matt Bryant

Practice Squad - (10) - Pick ten of the following, if eligible, and cut the rest: Sean Renfree, Freddie Martino, Bernard Reedy, Jacques Smith, Mickey Shuler, Harland Gunn, Tyler Starr, Marquis Spruill, Jerome Smith, Ronnie Wingo, Jordan Mabin, Brandon Bishop, Sean Baker, Nick Williams, Kyle Miller, Reid Fragel, Jared Smith, Adam Replogle, Ricky Havili-Heimuli, Allen Bradford, Brandon Bishop

As much as I disagree with FFS70 on this and TD, there's no questioning his fanhood. He's a die-hard. I've been to his house and watched a game with him so this goes beyond just what I've seen on a message board. I actually know FFS70 in person and he's a Falcon through and through and has been for decades...

I meant no disrespect of course because if he's been a fan of this team since '70, I know where his loyalties are. I know I've kind of wanted to veer the course for many years and sometimes let draft picks that I didn't want nearly make me go insane and it took the kind of 'wake up' message made to me during those times to keep the faith.

FFS70, I can feel your pain as we've felt this many times, especially in those early 70's years before "Peachtree Bart", Alfred Jenkins and William Andrews. But what you have to ask yourself is, "Did this draft make us a better team?" I have to answer that with a resounding "YES" but only the time of the next 2-3 years will we really know how well this draft turns out.

I know it's also nice to land some big 'local' talent from this state although it seems few and far between that we get someone from UGA and when we do, it's usually late rounders/UDFA's. These two picks from Clemson I think show a lot of upside for this defense that has sucked for the better part of four years and the cool thing was that Beasley has been a lifelong Falcons fan such as ourselves and what I thought was even more awesome was getting Grady Jarrett, who is the son of Jessie Tuggle.

I must admit at times I was hoping we could get Gurley as well, but with all the talent as he possesses, it is offset by a huge injury risk that I still think made his value too high for drafting a running back in the first round. I had to make it a bit more realistic so I skipped Gordon knowing he'd go in the first too and felt like Coleman was our guy in the second. I admit, I was pretty upset we didn't get him there knowing he'd get picked during the second round and grabbing him in the third was an absolute STEAL. Try to get your faith back, I think this guy is going to be a stud in our offense. And always remember, as long as we've been fans of this team, we've always been though much worse times than this.

Who cares? Everyone here is a die hard Falcons fan. Not everyone here chooses to spam the same narcissistic, self-serving "I told ya'll boys" rant over and over for an entire decade.

Maybe it's time you went back over to your friend's house and had a little talk with him about his chronic juvenile behavior.

I'll never understand why people make fun of his hair or the fact that he rides a bike or whatever. It's just stupid.

Awful lot of bumpkins here in the south.

Yes, how in the world did we pass on an expensive, injury prone shiny hood ornament? Jeez, indeed.

Exactly! Wish you homers would get over your man crush. He'll be lucky to play a full season.

It's a freaking football message board. For some folks on here it's important to always look like they're NFL experts and/or that they are always right.

I freely admit there are people on here who know more about college prospects, the intricacies of the different sets and schemes used in the NFL, etc. etc...

But I don't care! It's one of the reasons I come here...to learn. I learn from guys like fatboi, KOG, DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry, vel, Draftnut...etc. all the time.

There's a lot of freedom & respect gained in admitting that you don't know everything.

So Beasley went from your choice RIGHT BEHIND Gurley to "a situational pass rusher" that was the biggest mistake we could have made........when?

Face it, dude, you wanted Gurley, and you knew we'd never pick him. It's safe for your narrative. If you'd simply admit Beasley was a good pick, but not the pick you wanted, people wouldn't even bother to give you a hard time about it. The problem is, for you it's either Gurley or we made a huge mistake. That's just dumb. It doesn't help that you change your mind more than Nolan changes his defensive alignments. If Williams had fallen to us and we picked him, you'd have some reason why we should have picked Gurley instead.

Come on.

Just so we're clear, when someone said we need a short yardage back, here's what you said....

Passed on him in the first and took a third down situational edge rusher.
Let's not pretend you think he's an otherwise good pick who just happens to not be the guy you want. He's more than a "third down situational edge rusher" (he'll start and be a 3-down LEO for years to come). But that doesn't fit your narrative.

I'm sure Todd Gurley is relieved he didn't get drafted by the Falcons. I'd hate to have to dodge this obsessed, stalker-like, senile, Mark David Chapman type, grown man everyday in the ATL, too.

I'm sorry folks I aint over it yet. Please bear with me.

I mean how do you let another beast get out of your backyard? Criminal!!! We should have at least made the pick for Blank. He needs rest. I need rest. Yall need rest.

Don't get me wrong. I love Beasley. He was in my number two slot behind Dante. But Gurley moved in front of him on my round one board the day before the draft. He's gonna have to learn how to stop the run and drop in coverage against NFL players. Good luck.

Gurley aint got to learn sht. That mofo can run inside, run outside, bounce Falcon Oline jailbreak runs, pick up a third and one behind a Falcon Oline, leave the back seven in the dust, catch out of the backfield, block for his QB, and return kicks if we need him to. Shame, shame, shame.

Read this post and who liked it. That's how you tell when someone's ********.

Dimi's protege on the right showing what the fk you need to do. Dude on the left is gonna run over plenty NFL teams. Trust me.

The dude on the left doesn't look like he could last thru three innings of a softball game.

If you think Beasley is gonna be an every down player you may be disappointed. I bet he'll play 50-75% of our snaps. Like Cliff Avril did for Quinn the last two years.

With each successive article, D Led gets more and more laughable.

With each successive post, 70 gets more and more laughable.

Smoking Gun:

Seen every Falcon beat writer. DLed gets more access than all of em. Pastabelly, Wyche, Winkie, Terrence, Grizzard, Furman, you name it. All of them hated on the Falcons and got shut down. DLed is a Falcon homer and gets way more access. Oh and he has a law degree while many of yall mofos aint got a bachelor's degree. Don't hate on the bow tie or the voice.

Draw your own conclusions.
