DarrellShropshire
With Smith, struggled with talent and depth. With Quinn, we have already VASTLY improved both the talent, and the depth. And most importantly, we have pass rushers. What Smith couldn't do in 7 off seasons, Quinn took care of, for the most part, in 1.Wow, is all I have to say. Here it is:LE - Clayborn / Goodman / JacksonDT - Hageman / SoliaiDT - Babineaux / JarrettLEO - Beasley / Schofield / BiermannSLB - Reed / ShemboMLB - Worrilow / StuparWLB - Durant / Bartu / SpruillCB -Trufant / CollinsFS - Southward / Godfrey / KingSS - Moore / IshmaelCB - Alford / AdamsThis talent plus Quinn and the new "hands on" coaching staff, will put up a top 16 defense on year one.The best part, unlike the past, the nucleus of the defense is VERY young.Side note, I think Shembo is going to turn into a 10 sack per year LB. Dude has a lot of traits to become a star.
Rai
Big upgrade to last season. We wasn't going to be able to fix everything so we'll just have to get by with the possible weaknesses on paper at MLB and FS.
Tony Diesel
I'm also very excited to see this new staff develop the young players because as we all know, Smitty loved his vets and seemed pretty reluctant to play some of the younger guys.I think double digit sacks is way too high for someone who is not likely to start baring injury... BUT people have written Shembo off too quickly and he could excel in Quinn's system.
ryanadonis
The guys I expect to have a great year that will be a surprise are, Clayborn and Goodman. Goodman is really underrated and we haven't even seen what he could do at his natural position and weight. Mike Smith wanted Goodman at almost 300 pounds and play a 3-4 end at times. Not very good Smitty.
Truth B Told (TRU)
You do have to give Smitty credit for putting Quinn in this situation. For the most part Smith came here with basically nothing. He put together an offense and gave Quinn a top 10 pick.Quinn along with TD and Pioli has done a good job in FA and the draft

Smitty gave Quinn a top 10 offence - correct. Smitty gave Quinn a top 10 pick - correct but only by being a complete roster spastic and sending the franchise slowly back down from whence it came. The first is a compliment the second appears pure sarcasm.
Osiruz
Asides from the shembo comment I agree. I think you will be surprised to see Jalen collins start outside day 1, and alford will be move to a nickel back role, while starting outside on first downs. I think the main benefactors will be beasley, hageman, and moore.
jm_falcons
Ok....so the optimism is always nice to see. and hear. But....I would not call this defense(or depth of it) sick with talent by any means. The DL and LB core are slightly below average...imo. The secondary however...thats pretty good! If they had kept Weatherspoon...then yes....good LB core. If they had signed Suih at DT....then yes....good DL. I like Beasley....gonna be a beast. But....he;s still a rookie coming up and for this season....I still see a slightly below avg front 7. But...I do see some improvement over last year.Been a fan for waaaaay to long to get overly confident just beacuse we draft what appears to be good talent. If you don't think Quinn, TD, and Pioli's had a good FA and draft than you would be the first that I know of.
TheeTKOBeatz
Im not sure that depth chart is accurate, but for the sake of argument if jackson is 3rd at LE he needs to be cut may 26th we have a logjam of players who could fill that role for cheaperand I think Soliai is on the starting front 4 he is the only depth at his position, and Babs and Hageman battle for time with Jarrett behind depending on the package Edited May 3, 2015 by TheeTKOBeatz
capologist
When Quinn said they were going to try people in different places to see where they best produced, it was music to my ears...
FalconState
Hopefully we sign a couple more Free agents or trade for another player
DonDaLuvMaker
Don't be surprised if Collins gets the start over Alford and Alford gets looks at FS.Southward is going to get looks at corner.
AndySG
A lot of nice talent on there. Safety is still a concern.

SaintsH8
I'm excited that we will finally have some speed on defense that can also tackle.
FalkenUK
Love the DEPTH of talent we now have across the front 7. Remains to be seen IF any can step up and be true STARS but at least we appear to have the potential. The pieces finally seem to fit the scheme and Quinn seems determined to use the talents of ALL his players fully. As a TEAM it's hard not to see improvement in our D - now if some of these long, fast DB's pan out....Still questions to be answered, but we look to be heading in the right direction, After witnessing the Lions debacle in London first hand I'm hopeful this group would not capitulate quite so completely. Herr Doktor
Where's Maponga and Ricardo Allen?More than likely on the outside looking in. The writing is on the wall for Allen. Quinn has brought in quite a few bigger CBs. Ricardo may not make it. And Maponga will be fighting for his life to prove he belongs.
