Interior D-Line?

Recommended Posts

I Imagine a lot of rotations, but in base probably

LEO: Beasley, Schofield, Biermann, Maponga, Starr

3 tech: Babineaux, Jarrett, Hagemann

1 tech: Soliai, Jackson, Matthews

5 tech: Clayborn, Hagemann, Jackson, Goodman, Biermann

SLB: Reed, Shembo, Biermann, Schofield

in sub you can move all the penetrators inside

Okay, let's look at who we have.

Paul Soliai

Shede Hageman

Jonathan Babineaux

Ricky Havili

Tyson Jackson

Grady Jarrett

DE's factor closely

Biermann

Clayborn

Goodman

Maponga

Matthews

Schofield

I think we will be adding Beasley to that list sooner than later. Kroy was 245 when drafted as a DE. He is all of 260 now.

Just to be very honest, all of those guys will not make the team. June 1st cuts will give us a better idea.

LE: Clayborn, Goodman, Schofield

RE: Biermann. Maponga Schofield

Matthews is odd man

DT is more interchangeable in the 4-3 Under

Hageman, Babineaux, Jarrett

Soliai, Jackson, Jarrett

Havili is odd man out

I think they will likely keep only 4 DT's personally and if I had to guess...either Soliai or Jackson will be cut by June 1st

I think they keep only 4 DE's so my guess is either Maponga or Goodman is gone. Likely Goodman.

I think on the interior, they will play the hot hand the way they did in Seattle for two years. You will not be benched just cuz. You will be moved out if you are not getting warm after a few reps. You will have time to get to know each player and their styles. Funny thing, its hard to say at this present time what any can do.

In 4/3 base, I like...

UT Hageman

NT Soliai

In Nickel, Quinn says he has been experimenting with Clayborn and Babs inside.

Personally, I feel like Hageman has the ability to play NT, UT, or LDE.

Looks like Tyson Jackson will be competing with Clayborn for playing time at LDE in the 4/3.

Rookie Grady Jarrett looks like he could push people for playing time. He's probably a NT in nickel and more of an UT in 4/3.

Of course none if this is set in stone and should make for very nice camp competitions.

To quote another poster, we actually have depth on defense.

You're all sleeping on Joey Mbu. Don't be surprised if he makes a lot of noise, good shot to make the roster. I'm worried that if he's put on the PS someone will snatch him up.

He could easily have it so Soliai, Babineaux, and Jackson are expendable. When your focus is the DT, a lot of the times you want less but better guys.

It's exciting. There are so many spots where I seriously have no idea who's making the roster. But for once, I'm actually not that worried about our DL. We have a ton of talent for Quinn to pick from.

Me too...I have no idea. Tons of depth over the years and now some players.

Nailed it imo.

Said 1 gapper I believe. Depends what formation we're in, but that can be either 1T or 3T.

Yep. One reason Jarrett is considered "undersized" is that he is a bit small... to play NT. He has perfect size at UT. I think, that like Hageman, he can play 1T or 3T. Both Ra'Shede and Grady can backup Soliai as needed, especially on passing downs.

Though I'm also interested to see if Soliai - or Tyson Jackson - has now been made expendable by the addition of guys like Jarrett, Joey Mbu, and Adrian Clayborn.
