Francis York Morgan
Hope this helps comfort some of the people worried about "character issues." He's going to be a good addition to the Dirty Birds. He's got that dog in him, but I believe he's very much a changed man. Your thoughts?

Oldskooler
I can't view video. Will someone sum it up please.Sure.He's a pothead who got caught repeatedly. He started 10 games and was benched for 4 games. He's very sorry and he pinkie-swears that he has escaped the fiendish clutches of the evil weed-monster, seen tue light, turned over a new leaf, or whatever tired and trite cliche his agent wrote down for him to say. Or Justin Houston? Little closer to home, but Babineaux? Hageman? Miller did a lot worse than weed. People really do change, and the rumor I heard (not sure about its validity) is that he hasn't failed a test since his sophomore year. The youth retreat really seems to have changed him. I have a friend down at LSU who says that he's one of the most fan-friendly members of the team, really approachable and hard working, intelligent too. It's not like he abused someone or did something truly reprehensible. He's a kid who made a mistake.I got arrested for possession when I was 18 in college. Had to drop out. Joined the Navy and turned my life around, though I'm not a fan of the Navy myself. I sympathize a lot. He can do good things.

I hate that we blew a pick on him, but that's on TD, not Jalen Collins.I was out of line, and I apologize. I shouldn't blame the player for being picked. There were a lot of good players left on the board, and he's got some development still - he might not reach his ceiling till year 3 or 4. He and Rowe were my 3rd rated CBs on my board so I'm happy with it. But I get why others won't be. It's his job to prove the doubters wrong. Oldskooler
Collins and Coleman are the only picks I am down on. I love the other picks. I do point out that some perspective and moderation are needed. Unrealistic expectations are ridiculous. Let these kids earn their way.
Clark Kent™
Good vid. And you can see a HUGE difference in the way he speaks where he seems very genuine vs a guy like Jameis who always seems so full of crap.
Subway Guy
I can somewhat relate to Collins story. I was a pothead in highschool, that led to painkillers. I'm not going to share everything, but Bobby Bowden preached at a local church and I went and got saved. I quit the pills, and smoking weed (along with other stuff not drug related). Now God tests me, I was diagnosed with bipolar and schizophrenia. If I smoke weed now there is a good chance I go to hospital. Those that say weed is not addicting are wrong. Its psychologically adductive. These kids outta college are very young and under tons of stress and self medicate with weed. They make mistakes, but with the whole world at their fingertips they need to realize what's important. They not only let themselves down, but family, fans and teammates. It sounds like Collins is on the right path now so we will see.I just wonder when he failed his tests. silentbob1272
Another reason to love this pick,The Stains wanted himhttp://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000482278/article/jalen-collins-new-orleans-saints-say-theyre-highly-interestedGiven the New Orleans' Saints close proximity to LSU, it's safe to say they have a good idea of the talent level located just up the road in Baton Rouge. While the Saints have not gone out of their way to select Tigers in previous NFL drafts, but that might not be the case this year."They said they're highly interested," cornerback Jalen Collins told The Advocate after the team's pro day Friday, adding that he spoke with Saintssecondary coach Wesley McGriff. "He said he likes big corners, and he likes what he saw from the combine."Collins did not participate in LSU's annual pro day, which drew nearly 100 scouts, coaches, and front office personnel to the team's indoor facility, but he did spend plenty of time with NFL representatives in a number of informal meetings with teams. Collins underwent foot surgery to repair a fracture last week after learning of the injury at the NFL Scouting Combine. As a result, all teams have to go on for Collins is his tape from his junior year and the numbers he put up in Indianapolis, which included a 4.48 40-yard dash time despite the injury.Cornerback might not be among the Saints' biggest needs, but it's not hard to see why they could be doing their homework on Collins. He has perhaps as much upside as anybody in the draft at his position, given his size, and he certainly flashed plenty of ability during his time at LSU. The Saints have two first-round picks, at No. 13 and No. 31, which they received from Seattle in the Jimmy Graham trade. All six NFL Media mock draftsproject Collins as a first-rounder, ranging from the No. 16 pick to No. 31, where Charley Casserly projects him to the Saints. Collins would represent a continued youth movement on defense and could step in right away for the team as a nickel corner before eventually assuming a starting role for Rob Ryan's defense. The Saints are not the only ones evaluating him. Collins also has upcoming visits with the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars. dfsutton
I'm less impressed by his profession of faith and more impressed by his willingness to admit to his mistakes and having what appears to be a healthy respect for the tradition of his college program and his influence on the fans. If this young man respects the game as much as he appears to on this video, then I feel confident he will put in the work to develop to his full potential. That thought makes me very happy. Francis York Morgan
Alford is still starting opposite Trufant for now but consider this... Even though Collins is still rough around the edges he still mostly handled Amari Cooper while Alford was burnt to a crisp by Odell Beckham. I full expect Collins to to be the #2 CB by early season. His physicality and recovery speed also makes him an incredible deep cover corner. Get this, he had a pick, 4 PDs, and allowed a 10% completion percentage on deep routes (think that means routes 20+ yards) in 2014.But his coverage of short inside routes is godawful right now.
