Beasley / Anthony

I want to start out by saying that I feel like both are going to be good players for our respective teams.

My question is:

Could one of them appeared to have played better because of the other being on the field?

Anthony because of Beasley or Beasley because of Anthony?

In 1981,linebacker Hugh Green was drafted ahead of his teammate, linebacker Rickey Jackson.

Green wound up a bust ,while Jackson had a HoF career.

Anybody have any such reservations about either one of these picks?

I'm not trolling here...just want real football talk.

Anthony has nothing to do with Beasly's tangibles. He has the best first step of any pass rusher and even his critics called him the best pure pass rusher in the draft. His production at Clemson was very good, and yes, having Anthony could have helped with that, but even at half that production it would not have changed anything about the draft. Michael sam was really good in college but it didn't translate.same as tebow. Vic is an athletic freak, and the fact he was so productive in college is really yummy icing. So,saying Vic's success is a product of Anthony, well, having Anthony didn't hurt, but Vic would have got his regardless.

First off.......Green wasn't a bust. He was injury prone though. He had weak Hammies, not a good thing for a line backer, if it weren't for that, and the Bucs having so little talent back then, he could've been something. Back then these guys weren't paid **** compared to what we see today, and there was virtually no draft coverage. ESPN was only a couple years old. I remember hanging around outside the old One Buc Place asking everyone going in and out what was going on inside, and when I hear we picked Green I was ecstatic. But we never know what we're getting until the get in the games and see how different the NFL is from what they're used to.

I actually agree with alot of what yore saying.

Beasley doesnt have the best first step though. Shane Ray has him beat

Any solid team will help make a player look better. You cant gameplan as much for just 1 player when you have to plan for the entire D. If the D he was on sucked they could just throw to the sucky players side or run to that side to avoid him. Which would lower his stats and highlights.

But that doesn't change his natural ability or his talent. He is a very solid pick.

Funny, Mayock said Beasley has the an outstanding first step of the DE's. I'm going with Mayock over ssk...just sayin'

“His first step is outstanding and day one he’s a situational pass rusher,” said Mayock.

I didnt say he didnt have a great first step. I actually said only Shane Ray had him beat.

Bifocals????

Bust may be a little strong...but, the fact is that he never lived up to what was expected of him.

Bum Phillips was smart enough to build his defense around Jackson.
