Crab Legs Be Good.......

Aren't you one of those 'The rich are getting richer' haters??

I suppose they get a pass when playing on your football team.

That and they get a pass, when they're not screwing over others to get where they are, and they actually care about others, and put the needs of others before their own.

Skipper's Smokehouse has already let him know, he's got free Crablegs whenever he wants 'em.

Quite possibly the most hypocritical thing I have seen in a while. Is he getting free rounds at the gun club in Tampa too? How about free access and anything he wants in the champagne room?

If the Bucs wouldn't have taken Winston (which is kind of a moot point because they did), Buc fans would be all over the guy for his off field issues and talking about how great Mariota is going to be.

Good luck with this kid. I think the message being sent by offering free crab legs is very stupid and if I was Tampa management, I would advise him to decline the offer. That would definitely speak better to his character than anything else he has done thus far.

Here's just a few replies:

It’s pretty funny and ultimately probably good-natured, but if I’m a Bucs fan who was worried about his potential problems, I’m more worried now.

If there was ever a red flag, this it. The only thing that would’ve made this picture better would be a half-naked woman passed out behind him.

Kid doesn’t get it and probably never will. He better win and win fast or every little joke he thinks he’s making that’s cute is gonna be staring him right in the face.

He’ll be the head cook at Joe’s Crab shack in about 4 years……book it.laugh.png

Bucs won’t get over .500 this year.. Winston will be pissed off as he will not have control and he was in a cup cake league and did not lose until Oregon he cannot handle adversity well as we saw him yelling at his coaches already last year.

His immaturity and his lack of integrity off the field will be major problems over 2-3 years before Bucs cut him loose.

Bucs took him so they can finally sell seats and hopefully fill that stadium and sell some jerseys. NFL is an entertainment business and the Bucs gave their fans what they wanted.. but they are NOT going to be a playoff team with Winston at the helm. Just NOT going to happen.

Thank you Tampa for taking this kid.

Titans fans.

I dont think it’s funny. To me he’ s saying, look I stole from a store and I’m still getting paid millions. I would not have drafted this guy because I dont trust him.

Again, it shows Winston’s lack of plain commmon sense. He’s been so sheltered & coddled in his FSU world, that he’s not even capable of making good, sound decisions on his own. He’s all yours Lovie……

Jameis Winston deletes crab-leg photo

Many gave Jameis Winston a restrained round of applause for the self-awareness displayed as he posed in Buccaneers gear with a plate of crab legs. But not everyone feels that way about the gesture.

Perhaps starting with the woman in the background of the photo, whose face has an expression that suggests, “Is he really doing this?”

The Buccaneers and/or Winston’s lawyers may have been thinking the same thing. And someone has apparently persuaded Winston that it wasn’t the smartest thing to do. Via TheBigLead.com, the photo has now been deleted.

If Winston’s only off-field blemish arose from his saunter through the front door of the official grocery store of the Buccaneers with a box of appendages that usually move sideways, it would have been fine. But Winston has too many issues. And that many issues begin to intertwine. And one of those issues is a lingering sexual-assault allegation that has become a civil lawsuit that isn’t going to disappear simply because he’s now in the NFL.

So when Winston pokes fun at the crab-leg caper specifically he’s poking fun at his off-field issues generally. Which means he’s poking fun indirectly at a pending claim of sexual assault that will be the opposite of fun once he ends up under oath and on video trying to talk his way around questions from a lawyer who has spent years dealing with people who thought they could charm their way out of any problem.

It may not go as poorly as Justin Bieber’s deposition, but there’s a chance that Winston’s inevitable question-and-answer session won’t go as well as he’ll think it’s going. And one of the devices that Erica Kinsman’s lawyers will use to get under Winston’s skin will be the photo of Jameis with a Buccaneers jersey on his back, a Buccaneers hat on his head, and a plate of crab legs in his hands.

I would say that the photo showed the wrong kind of self awareness. He’s aware that usually he can smile and talk his way out of things.

The fact that the photo referenced an incident in which he stole, and which he recently tried to shift the blame to a non-existant store employee (while also indicating that he and his pals also stole a birthday cake) I think it was a bad idea.

It sends the wrong message. He’s the face of a franchise now and he shouldn’t be winking at how he got away with so much at FSU because the school protected him.

It was a “joke”, but it’s not the kind of joke this kid should be making.

A day after being drafted No. 1 overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jameis Winston was introduced to the media and fans by the team at his first press conference. right off the top, the team announced that Winston had already signed his first contract:

Ian Rapoport has more information on the reported terms of the deal:

So much for the days of lengthy, drawn-out contract negotiations between players and teams.

Winston didn't waste much time in the press conference, thanking the people who helped him get to the NFL, including the most important of them all, per Pro Football Talk:

Per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, he added:

He noted that having his family helped during preparations for the draft, per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times: was also humble about his role on the team, noting that while he one day wanted to be a leader and a face of the franchise, he didn't need to assume that role completely just yet, per Stroud:

He also knows his past means he has to prove he can keep himself out of trouble, per Auman:

Hard work should help in that regard:

And he seems excited to learn a new offense and get started working in the system in Tampa Bay:

Of course, having Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans will make the transition a lot easier, and Winston noted in his presser that he was excited to have two 6'5" receivers after getting to play with Kelvin, another big receiver, at Florida State.

Finally, he explained the photo he took with crab legs he ate after being drafted, which folks assumed was a sly nod to Winston previously getting in trouble after not paying for crab legs but that he maintained was his way of thanking a friend for providing them:

This is what Winston faces now, however. He will be scrutinized, poked and prodded during his NFL career, as folks look to see if he can stay out of trouble and develop as a franchise quarterback. Some players could have made that joke with little incident, but for Winston, it seemed to touch a nerve in some folks. Some folks like their quarterbacks stoic, it would seem.

Regardless, Winston's selection ushers in a new age for the Buccaneers, and big things are expected of the former Heisman winner. The foreseeable future in Tampa is tied directly to Winston.

He gave a good presser jb. I like the kid. He is trying to do the right thing. Along the way he is going to need a mentor so he doesn't slip up because this is all so new to him. Pros are very different from college. He doesn't think he is the face of the franchise, but he is and is every move will be scrutinized. That is where he will need some coaching both on and off the field. But he is a bright guy and he wants to succeed, which may be bad news for the rest of the NFCS!

Agreed with every thing you said. I missed his presser, but saw the recording. The dude's sincere, he just needs to grow the **** up and realize, whether he likes it or not, he is the face of the franchise, and because of this, he'll be under the constant scrutiny of the public, consequently the media, especially the TMZ types will be camped at his doorstep from here on out, just waiting for him to slip up. It sucks, but those are the facts. He just needs to prove 'em wrong.
