takeitdown
Notice TD essentially saying it was great for him personally to be able to go get an edge rusher?I'm not really one to buy that Smith was all the problem and Dimi none of it.I was, however, a bit surprised by TD's statement in the presser. Sounded like he wanted a pass rusher for awhile.Who knows. Regardless, I'm glad we have guys here now who understand the importance of pressure and penetration. However we got here...great. sdogg
Well reports said that TD wanted edge rushers and Smith/Nolan wanted beef in the middle. Who knows?
Tuggle'2
Was just sort of discussing this in chat. I really believe that if Smitty were here we would have traded the farm (too much) for Williams.
insight
I guess Smith forced him to cut Abe too.

LookAboutFalcon
Guys can we focus on the future and not the past? That is what the draft is all about.
thanat0s
His tongue has more forks than a high school cafeteria. I don't believe a single word that comes out of that weasel's mouth.

So Smitty instigated moving up for Baker, Julio and Tru?
weezy01212
I thought it was funny when. D.Led asked if Quinn or TD were worried about Beasley being a liability against the run and they both laughed at him shaking their heads saying no not at all Edited May 1, 2015 by weezy01212

Tuggle'2
So Smitty instigated moving up for Baker, Julio and Tru? I couldn't tell you. I just really believe he would have pushed trading away whatever to get Williams.
YoungHeezy
I guess Smith forced him to cut Abe too. Abe had too much going on. I'm sure it wasn't football related.
FalconBlood
Wasn't Smitty's hayday with Stroud and Henderson? Those guys were studs.

Vandy
So Smitty instigated moving up for Baker, Julio and Tru? That seems to be the conspiracy theory here
Dem Birds
TD is one of the most manipulative people ever. Not saying he's a bad gm but he's very phony. He's even started saying fired up apparently.
thanat0s
That seems to be the conspiracy theory hereIt helps the revisionist history narrative that everything will be great now that the evil coach Smith is gone.
insight
I am still a Smith fan btw. I like the guy. Smitty was a good coach but it was time for a change. I think he reached his ceiling but he always stepped on the podium and pointed the teams failures back on himself. TD seems to enjoy the spotlight when things are going well and then slides to the back of the room when things go South. He did a great job early in his tenure finding guys to revive the Atlanta Falcons but his propensity to trade up definitely had a negative impact on depth and our ability to restock talent. I like Quinn but he better have a bullet proof vest because if things get off to a rough start don't expect TD to willingly take any of the heat. takeitdown
Yeah, I wasn't saying Smith's evil. It's more that I've dismissed that stuff as sort of silly. And Dimi seemed to say something the leaned into it.Regardless, however we got here, if we're now going to focus on pressure and getting the QB down...I'm all for it. mashburn*Fibonacci
Was just sort of discussing this in chat. I really believe that if Smitty were here we would have traded the farm (too much) for Williams. and you already know I agree with that. And I'll say it again..... Last year td added Jackson, soliai, and hageman. Yet Smith/Nolan made our line the worse in the league. I honestly blame the coaches so much. Who knows what/who is going to rise up from the ashes we had no idea about.
Mr.11
TD is one of the most manipulative people ever. Not saying he's a bad gm but he's very phony. He's even started saying fired up apparently.Or maybe Quinn just rubbed off on him some. His personality and attitude tends to do that. Don't be surprised to see players start echoing that phrase in interviews.
