Ben Day Hoe
With so many poster clamoring for Gurley I thought I would take another gander at deep value plays for our open running back positions. Snelling and Jackson both have to be replaced. I think with coach Shanahan's history we are waiting to draft running back until the fifth round. Zach Zenner is very well known on this board. I think we take him or Varga and pair one of those guys with a 6'2 240lb bruiser from Azusa Pacific. He broke all school records at the position including Christian Okoye's. With an impressive 63 TD's in 3 years he looks like the next Mike Alstott. He can put teams away for us in the fourth quarter and bang in those short yardage and goal line downs. Meet Terrell Watson http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/terrell-watson?id=2553127. We don't need Gurley we need two late rounders. Robb4242
Snelling has to be replaced? Dude retired after the 2013 season. And no, drafting 2 RBs late is not better than drafting a single RB early (not saying Gurley, that would be any of the top 3). First, why waste 2 picks on something you can address with 1 pick? This is the first draft in a long, long time where the talent at RB makes this a reasonable proposition. Second, we already have RB's who are role playing backs (Freeman/Antone), so why draft 2 more of them? We end up with a backfield of average to below average RBs and no RB who can be a quality starter.Gurley isn't my 1st choice of draft pick in the 1st round, but IMO, it makes more sense to take him rather than 2 late rounders. You can't expect to get through a full NFL season and not have injuries to your running backs. Most backs will miss two games a year or more. With Snelling, Quizz and Jackson all gone we need to take two backs in my opinion. Why spend a first rounder on Gurley when you could invest a fifth and a sixth or seventh and get two capable runners? It's not like those late picks traditionally result in all pro players. Use your first rounder on defense.
Francis York Morgan
I don't really agree with this. You can't just add them up and expect that to be better. And Zenner isn't really a FB.

That's cool. Maybe Varga is the better FB. I do like Abdullah and we be glad if we got him but feel we need to use the first 3 or four picks at positions where the talent is thinner in this draft. Thinking pass rush, inside linebacker, and cornerback/safety. Have you looked closely at Watson?

I'd actually like him as a straight up tailback, not the first option...and I definitely don't think it's "Abdullah or bust," there's a lot of RBs I like. Just think we ought to use a pick on RB round 2 or 3 since the talent is so high, 4 at the latest. I've looked a decent bit at Watson, it sucks because there isn't much tape, just highlights. He's a hard runner but way too linear, I don't see how he's an upgrade over Wingo.I'd be happy with Abdullah, David Johnson, TJ Yeldon, Buck Allen, Jay Ajayi, even could convince myself to be happy with Tyler Varga or Josh Robinson. In our scheme at least. I just want someone I think can really carry the rock and be versatile for us, and I can't see that in Watson or Zenner yet. And Gurley is just above Abdullah (for me). Watson had over 60 TDs. Granted we are talking small school competition here but the guy dominated and that's what I look for against small school competition. Josh Robinson I could see going undrafted. At the end of the day we will get a running back or two. Can't wait to see who.
