2011 5 145 Jacquizz Rodgers

2009 7 212 Javarris Williams

I don't know much about Pioli's picks but as you can see, TD's RB choices have not panned out to "starter" status.

What do you think the implications are on the draft?

Too early to know for sure on Free, One is a FB... the rest are 6'th or later guys. Quizz is the only one that you can really try to hold against them for not panning out, but for a 5'th rounder he did well for us. You don't draft starters in the last few rounds very often.

Well we can't answer that question.

Getting Turner(success) for 5 years and then getting Jackson(not close to what he once was) for the next 2 were suppose to be the answers for the Falcons starting RB position over the last 7 years.

Quizz was only ment to be a backup/complementary back. Ewing was a FB, not a RB.

Thomas Brown got hurt during preseason of his rookie year on a horse collar tackle and went on IR, he would've never started anyway with Turner arguably being the most productive RB at the time. He also would've had to battle for backup carries against Snelling and Norwood(until he goes on IR).

The jury is still out on Freeman. Not sure what to really think about him at this point in time.

As far as I'm concerned, they've made it clear Shanny is selecting the RB, not necessarily them. They constantly talk about how Shanny has this type of guy he really likes, and getting someone for his system, and the guys we've brought in so far...a lot of them fit that. So I'd say, given that they've had starting RBs in place most of their years, it's more accurate to ask yourself "when has Shanahan ever had a good starting running back?"

...:D

this tread is kind of stupid. TD signed a long term starter for us in Turner, then tried a gimmick by bringing in a former great RB and it did not work out. Pioli had Jamaal Charles. While you see a lot of late round RB's be starters in the league, they are only a small percent of the ones that actually get drafted in those rounds just like every other **** position...

Everyone is just so convinced that rbs that are future all pros with elite nfl ready talent are "a dime a dozen"

We need a rb like the Browns need a qb. Free might be serviceable but he is no scary threat. Gurley is 20 years old, would love to have him for the long haul stating now. I'm even fine with that costing the 8. Would we give up the 8 if we knew he was a AP or beast mode? Cause this guy is a sure bet. I watched him and chubb both over and over as a fan. Even though chubbys numbers were phenomenal and he is a special player too, he is not on gurleys level.

Freeman is gonna turn some heads this season, doesn't mean we won't find someone to provide some stiff competition.

Freeman is awful.

Average-at-best runner.

Non-threat as a receiver.

Human turnstile blocker.

He did absolutely nothing excellent as a rookie. And unlike many positions where time is needed, running backs traditionally can run the ball well as rookies IF they are any good.

Freeman isn't any good.

The point of this poll is estimate how well the Falcon's GM's can scout and draft RBs in that if they have not done it before, what makes you think they can do it now?

There are reasons TD did not draft a starter but those reasons don't magically make TD a good drafter of half backs.

Therefore if we don't draft one of the top 2 RBs this year, I will be very skeptical of our running game until I see it in action.

They drafted Jamal Charles in 2008. Why draft another Starting running back? You just need depth after that. And you failed to mention Pioli drafted dexter mccluster.

TD on the other hand brought Michael Turner in. Arguably the best falcons RB in history thus far so there was Lo need to draft a starter. Just depth as Jaquizz Rodgers was. Freeman is a starter caliber RB. Especially in the new zbs they will install. He's perfect for that. If given the opportunity he can carry this team in this system. Still need to draft a back for depth if they decide to go with freeman as the starter.

Isn't it crazy knowing that a starter can be found other than in the draft?

Point is, what are we going to look like this upcoming season.

Therefore, who are we going to sign "other than the draft"

My response is directed at the scope of your comment, the starter I am looking for is for 2015 not the past seasons
