"One thing that was extremely noticeable from the start of practice was the level of intensity throughout the first part of practice. Players were expected to go full speed through every drill. Some of the drills the players were working through early were drills I recognized from my high school track practices; they're designed to target the development of fast twitch muscles, the ones that help with quick, explosive movement. The transition to becoming a fast and physical football team is certainly already in the works."

Didn't we read something similar this time last offseason, about Smitty's last training camp?

nope

You just don't remember when Tice and Cox were being touted for bringing a new hard hitting attitude to the Falcons, I believe they did, it's simply a matter of the talent level needed to improve.

They were asking players like Worrilow and Bierman to play like All Pros, and many fans were expecting it.

You guys give Quinn time, and he should turn that defense around......if Morris doesn't **** it all up.

I remember the "toughness" stuff and the speeches but the article is talking about practicing at full speed and it being a high energy environment.

smith asked players to tone it down in practice.

The BIG one from last season

3. Toughness Showing Already: Toughness has been the big buzzword this offseason and it's important to note that the Falcons have backed all that talk up by bringing in some rookies who are known for their toughness. Matthews told the media that there have been a few occasions during walkthrough sessions where the coaching staff has had to remind players that they're supposed to be running half speed. "We were busting lips and hitting guys, I busted my nose up and I was bleeding, but we were getting after it. That's the big thing I've taken away from this group is that these guys love to work and I'm glad to be a part of the group because they take a lot of pride in what they do."

You can have Vince Lombardi as your head coach, but if you don't have the talent needed, its simply a waste of good coaching, and it works in reverse too. If you have a talented team, with Bozo the Clown as head coach, you're still not gonna win many games.

I think it was the Cavs Celtics game were the announcer was saying that there are players/coaches that can get you to the next level, then you have to cut those and get better to get to the level after that.

That statement fits here perfectly. Smith got Atlanta to a good level, now they need someone better to take them higher.

You keep coming at us with the talent thing. A majority of these players played on the 13-3, 5 yards from the Super Bowl team in 2012. You know that right?

So...was that 13-3 due to Smitty or all that talent you have on your offensive & defensive lines?

There's a lot of talent on this team, it just was not at the lines (and the OL was suffering injury after injury)

That has been address and is going to likely be a huge part of our draft as well.

It's fine to poke at the team last year, but to poke at the current team for the same reasons is stupid. Especially after a pretty major overhaul in both coaches/schemes and players...

A lot of talent???? If youre saying every player (in the NFL) has talent then yes but if you want to say talent as in good players, hahaha

You can look at TATF and the Huddle and youll see the same thing.

You really can't.
