Falcanuck
I'm going to get flamed for this one.... 1. TB - Jameis Winston, QB2. TEN - Leonard Williams, DE3. JAX - Dante Fowler, DE4. OAK - Amari Cooper, WR5. WSH- Vic Beasley, DE/OLB6. NYJ - Shane Ray, DE/OLB7. CHI - Randy Gregory, DE/OLB1st. Brandon Scherff, OT/OGDo you take the project with freaky measurables and non-existent technique on the defensive side of the ball (Dupree), or the somewhat sure thing that would cement the left side of the OL for the rest of Ryan's career? I opt for the latter. I would argue that LG is actually a bigger need than DE right now and I think Scherff embodies everything the Falcons are striving to become. Finally, teams will dread having to go up against the Falcons' OL again. While I understand and appreciate the need for a pass rusher, if the cards fall this way, this isn't the year to address that concern. This is how you draft BPA.2nd. Ameer Abdullah, RBHere's where people will start going crazy. "He drafted an offensive player in the first, surely he'll draft a defensive player in the second!". Nope. I really don't like what Eli Harold and company have to offer in the second and think that real defensive talent like Anthony and Kendricks will be snatched up by ILB hungry teams at the end of the first. But Abdullah is no consolation prize. I recently fell in love with his game. He is small, but has absolutely incredible balance and probably the best vision, cutting combo of any back in the entire draft. In Shanny's zone blocking scheme, behind a competent OL, with Scherff in the mix, the Falcons' rushing attack will be a force to be reckoned with. Sorry, Gurley lovers, but Abdullah fits the ZBS better and comes at a cheaper price. 3rd. Jaquiski Tartt, SFinally, a defensive pick. But no, not a pass rusher. I'm a huge Mauldin fan here, but I don't see him coming in and doing anything better than Brooks Reed at the SAM position. I'm also OK with Orchard or Kikaha here, but I don't see them being anything more than situational pass rushers for the entirety of their careers. I also doubt they'd get many snaps ahead of Schofield. This pick is about finding an every day starter. Tartt gives Quinn a tackling machine with great speed and awareness to fill the Kam Chancellor role. While it's not ideal, I see Moore sliding to FS as others have mentioned, or potentially Stevie Brown being signed. Either way, while it pains me to say it, I think this is WillyMo's last year with the Falcons.4th. Tyler Lockett, WROK, many of you have probably lost your minds by now. That's fine. I think Lockett is the next Randall Cobb and only falls to the Falcons in the 4th due to the incredibly deep 2015 WR class. The Falcons need a slot threat and Lockett would start immediately in HD's place. Again, this draft is about finding quality starters that will play a lot of snaps -- not a draft where you select marginal pass rushing talent just because. Again, this is BPA at a position of need. 5th. Jalston Fowler, FBYou're not even reading anymore. Nonetheless, yet another quality day 1 starter. Also, the new short yardage back. Two birds.6th. Lynden Trail, DEThese are the round you draft athletic freak projects. Trail is just that. I have faith that Quinn could turn this behemoth into a solid player.7th. Deterrian Shackelford, ILBPicked purely based on name.7th. Imoan Claiborne, CBAlso picked purely based on name.

HEIST
no edge rusher huh?banJK but seriously I want a **** pass rusher. Our running game would improve a ton. You did a good job of getting immediate contributors, which seems to be your goal.
Knight of God
EXTREMELY INTERESTING!!! LOL!!! You know guys get drafted all the time based on name. Its a fact. TheFalcoholic
I like it. I'd be ecstatic if the first 2 rounds went like this. It's very attainable.... I don't think we will go this way though. I definitely want Scherff, Gurley or a trade down if we can't get Beasley at 8.
Francis York Morgan
I about died at the last two there. Lots of good names on this list, I've made it known Abdullah and Fowler is my dream combo (Fowler can run pretty dang well himself, no lie), Lockett and "Shrek" are studs, and Lynden Trail is a huge sleeper, love the guy. Not a fan of the Tartt pick but you can't have them all. Overall I like the players, and the run game will help the D, but...I dunno. I'd be real anxious about our pass rush going into the season. I'm the kinda guy who's very "I want to kick the crap out of you on the line of scrimmage" though, and Scherff helps, just know that I'd be pulling for Quinn to do something with our guys on that side of the ball. If the first seven go like that I wouldn't blame you at all. Solid mock man.

If one of Williams, Ray, Gregory, Vic or even Fowler do slip, I see the Falcons taking the pass rusher. But, I don't know. I feel like the rebuild will take one more off season and this year could be a good year for Quinn to figure out how effective his defensive scheme really is. vel
I actually like it. Only complaint is you overdraft Abdullah. I think you can switch him and take a different safety at #42, but that's nitpicking. Get the guys you want, F "overdrafting". I definitely would not be made if this happened. The Real Tony G.
I like it, but I can't fathom the draft falling like that, and if it does then we take whatever offer we can find for Mariota because there is gonna be a good one out there.Besides that though, I wholeheartedly agree that we need to reload the offense. We have way too many young players in our front seven that have potential to be coached up and an opportunity to play in a scheme that actually makes sense. We shouldn't push them down the depth chart for even more mid/late-round picks.
Clark Kent™
I like the Scherff pick. Had him in my mock as well. But you have to get some type of pass rush after that. Surprised Vel isn't crying like a little girl that you didn't take an edge guy lolDon't like Abdullah in the 2nd. I think thats too early, but maybe not who knows. I don't want another 5'9 RB. I do think he is a good runner and probably has the best wiggle of any RB in the draft, but his size and fumbling issues scare me to take him in the 2nd.Dislike the Tartt pick very very much. He is a pure SS all day long and I disagree that Willy Mo could be moved to FS. He can't do it. I think round 3 would be too early to get a guy who doesn't play any snaps unless Moore goes down. Which could be likely, but you get the point. Like Lockett and Fowler. I don't think Trail will end up begin anything, but for a 6th rounder he is well worth the pick to try him out. g-dawg
FAIL on many levels1) Neither Shane Ray nor Randy Gregory are going in top 10 - doubt either come off the board until we get to the 20's.2) You invest a 3rd, 6th and two 7th rounders on defense - seriously?3) You have two potheads going in top 7 and no Marcus Mariota when 2/3 of the teams in the NFL don't have adequate starting QBs4) You don't take an OG in the top 10.sorry Falcanuck - I like you - but hate your draft. takeitdown
This is similar to how I want the draft to go, excluding the first round. We really need to reload an offense that was already aging, and cut it's starting slot receiver, starting LG, starting RB.My preferred mock has a pass rusher at 8, and then a heavy shift to offense to address LG, RB, WR...so yours is pretty close besides the glaring pick at 8...which we may be forced into. Clark Kent™
I would want Tartt to play the Chancellor role. What don't you like about him?I know you would. As would I, but that is the role Moore plays and the only spot he physically can play. So to me, that means Tart doesn't see the field unless Moore goes down.If we are talking about him as a SS then i do think he has potential in that spot, but i wasn't really impressed by him that much at the Senior Bowl. I'm not sure about that. Moore was a FS coming out and he has plenty of range. I don't think he's the ideal FS, but I've also never seen him play it in the NFL, so I don't know how he'd do. g-dawg
You liked my last one so it was only a matter of time surely you can see the holes in your draft and your projections of what other teams will do in the front 7. of course Scherff will be there anyway because those 7 teams also know you don't take an offensive guard in the top 10.You know for a FACT that Ray and Gregory are not sniffing the top 10 now, right? at least admit that my Canadian friend.
