Nono
I hope I am wrong. Don't get me wrong Todd Gurley would be awesome, but I have been patiently waiting all through the Mike Smith era for a decent pass rush. I hope Pioloi has more common sense than TD and selects an edge rusher.I hope word from AB has not corrupted the pick just to excite fans and sell more tices and PSL's

Tony Diesel
Meh.Ticket revenue is shared among all NFL teams; however, teams keep their own revenue from luxury boxes and stadium naming rights.Artie B has always said he has 0% input on football decisions. Fans respond to WINNING more than anything.
Jigglypuff
Lol if u mean winning games leads to tickets why not pick gurley.
Tony Diesel
Lol if u mean winning games leads to tickets why not pick gurley.- Pass rush is our greatest need- Freeman + 3rd or 4th Rd RB + Antone Smith + ZBS = More than adequate run game- Gurley tore his ACL and is questionable for week 1 (why gamble)- RB is by far the most injury-prone position, which is why almost all teams use a committee approach, which in some regards, has devalued the position somewhat in the draft.... AND not a single RB was selected in the 1st rd last year. - The ZBS is known to turn no-name RBs into superstars- Premium edge rushers are much harder to come by, let's grab one while we have a high pick

HaRdH3ad
IMO I believe we are thinking of Dupree because we want to set the world record on broad jump not actually rush the passer which will also sell tickets
Beast-N-Da-Sheetz
I wouldn't be surprised if we traded back into the 1st if Gurley slips to mid-late. Depends on how much influence TD has. One reason why our draft is so unpredictable this year is because we don't know exactly who's making the picks. One minute you hear TD is relieved of drafting duties to Pioli, and in pressers it's mostly TD talking about the draft with Quinn. Hopefully that's just him being more like the spokesman and still not having much to do with the draft process.
AndySG
TD probably only has one year left if things go badly. Can he really afford to take a guy who might not play for the first half of the year?

xskyx
Winning sells more tickets, and we aren't winning chit with this defense. We're winning some nice draft picks.
kingslasher
No Nono, taking Gurley at pick 8 will hurt ticket sales as it means we will lose for being stupid. We've had a poor running game not because we needed Gurley, but because we have poor run blocking. If Gurley was such a game changing back, you would think that UGA would have won the SEC at least once during his three years there. In fact, they only made it to the SEC championship game once and lost.
paulitik
Why is everybody still saying this? The report after his medical recheck is he is ahead of schedule and could be ready by training camp, which is eight months after his injury.I don't think we should draft Gurley at 8, unless all of the pass rushers are gone and we have no hope of trading back. Having said that, I think a lot of posters here want to undermine him because we have other priorities in the draft, specifically our defense. I'm not playing that game. I think Leonard Williams and Todd Gurley are the 2 most likely superstars in this draft, but I also get the fact that they don't fit our most crucial need which is edge rusher. To some Williams addresses a more urgent need, but he's a DT in our system, and we already have a good bit of talent there. An argument could be made that we haven't been as successful without a great running game as well. A back like Gurley could pay dividends in clock management, which would help our Defense a lot too. I refuse to play this silly little game that so many here want to play, that just because the guy might not fit our most urgent need, therefore he's overrated, or some how a fairly common and recoverable ACL injury is somehow just like Willis McGahee or Marcus Lattimore's. Gurley is a freak, and he'd make our team better. I agree with most that we should draft the best passrusher available at #8, but I'm not going to dismiss potentially the best player in the draft doing so. (That is, unless he's drafted by the Saints, then he's dead to me. Ha!)

JDaveG
I'm still not sure pass rusher is our biggest need.I'm pretty much convinced at this point you want Gurley because you know we won't draft him and it feeds into your "Dimitroff is horrible" narrative.Even though Pioli is in charge of scouting the picks. You're not sure pass rusher is our biggest need, but you want to draft an injured RB with the no. 8 overall pick? Okay boss.

He will definitely reach for a second tier edge rusher because edge rusher is our "perceived" biggest need. Yep Jelly over Clay Matthews 2.0. xskyx
Yes, if you love having a top 10 draft pick, by all means take Gurley. We can look forward to the draft every year while trying to forget about the past season. The draft is our superbowl lol
Bring It
WINNING will sell all the tickets they can print. They won't need any "Dog & Pony Show". Winning.
Rwhite84
Honestly I think the best way for the Falcons to sell tickets is to put a winning team on the field, additionally I don't think Arty's as involved as the Browns owner from draft day, or the real draft(where he vetoed the Bridgewater pick they traded up for). I'm sure they'll grab whoever they think will best help us win. Edited April 27, 2015 by Rwhite84
