Todd Gurley Is Low Risk, High Reward

I know a lot of people are petrified at the thought of the Falcons taking a 20 year old phenom recovering from a torn ACL in 2015, but it's not the risk it's being made out to be. Best case scenario, Falcons are getting a legitimate Pro Bowl calibre RB who plays a long time. Worst case, he's a good rotational back who's in and out of the lineup with injuries.

WorsT case scenario is he's a rotational back that we spent a 1st round draft pick for when we could've drafted (insert hindsight beast player)...oh and it will all be TDs fault lol

Who is "beast player". Is there a player available who is without risk?

Why should I feel so safe and secure with a pass rusher when I see Dion Jordan, Barkevious Mingo, Brandon Graham, etc drafted high every year?

Cedric Benson, Reggie Bush, Trent Richardson, Darren McFadden, etc didn't really live up to their hype either.

There will always be some busts at every position.

you are a broken record - good grief - get over it.

  1. Gurley has an ACL right now
  2. Gurley was hurt often before the ACL
  3. RBs have the shortest careers in the NFL
  4. by the time Gurley's 2nd contract rolls around, even if he is great, it could be a 50/50 call to re-sign him when you would likely get 2 more top-notch years (hello DeMarco Murray).

The Value on a RB in the top 10 is extremely poor. You have to go all the way back to 2007 - 8 years ago! - to find a RB worth top 10 status(Adrian Peterson). AP was much healthier than Gurley coming into the NFL.

  • I love Todd Gurley
  • My sig below has Todd Gurley in it
  • I still believe Gurley at #8 - or even in a tradedown - is the wrong move.

Getting the stud RB is a "finishing move" for a team that is mostly built for a SuperBowl - Falcons not close right now. We can get a very good/serviceable RB to trio w/ Freeman and Antone Smith - say a David Johnson - in the 3rd/4th round. As good as Gurley? Of course not - but we need better blocking and a complimentary back to go w/ what we have.
