Jay Ajayi Knee Issues

Recommended Posts

A "number of teams" have red flagged Boise State RB Jay Ajayi's knee when reviewing medical checks, according to Tony Pauline.

Thee knee injury (which was described as "shredded") occurred during an attempted theft when Ajayi was 18 years old after just moving to the U.S. for football. Beat writer Chadd Cripe once said "The injury on the field was so bad that coaches wondered if he'd recover." Pauline's report is worth keeping in mind during draft weekend, especially if Ajayi stays on the board longer than expected.

will be interesting to see if he drops in the draft.

He's probably going to drop a lot. He skipped the combine rechecks (depending on who you ask). Ajayi's agent says he wasn't invited to the rechecks, but sounds like several teams were expecting him to be there.

If he falls into the third I hope we take him.

He was already a third round prospect.

Looks more like a 5th rounder now.

He's played 3 years since the injury. Sure, that might prevent him from being a 1st rounder if he ever would have been, but sounds like his rehab has held up. I'd be good with him in the 3rd or after, and I'm highly concerned about injuries generally.

RBs have a short shelf life anyway. Get him on a rookie contract and let him walk after it.
