What Are Some Of You Guys Going To Think...

When Paul Worrilow is the starting Middle Linebacker for this team next year? I see almost everyone writing this guy off and I don't think it's going to happen. We have needs far worse for this year than replacing Worrilow.

Do I think he is fantastic? No. Is he good enough to be the starter? Yes. Quinn is going to simplify his role and he will be just fine.

I see us addressing needs at:

Edge rusher (I'd like to double dip but I doubt it)
Left Guard
Free Safety
Running Back
Corner

Before we worry about replacing Worrilow. And by the time we get all this other needs some late round player isn't going to be better than him anyways.

You can tell this guy has been busting his hump all off season. In his interview he was talking about living at Flowery Branch and working on his speed. Obviously looking at him you can tell he has been lifting like crazy.

I am actually excited to see what he can do under Quinn!!!!

Some just cannot adjust to the fact that the round in which one is drafted or the fact that a player is undrafted is somehow a determinant of their success in the NFL.

They think we have to have 1st rounders at every position to be good.

This same problem is also hitting James Stone who played very well last year and should be on the consideration list to be a starter at either Center or Guard for 2016.

In reality, some of Quinn's best players in Seattle were not 1st rounders but late rounders.

His replacement will be Paul Dawson, Eric Kendricks, or Denzel Perryman.

We will draft a tweener for our Free Safety/corner spot, then let Southward and new draft pick fight for either position. So killing two birds with one stone.

His willingness to bust his hump is not the problem with him. There are physical limitations that cannot be erased by heart and although he is a trooper, he's probably best suited as a backup MLB. That's no disrespect to him and definitely not to suggest that I (or most Falcons fans) don't appreciate what he has done. But I'm afraid it has not and will not be enough to be our starter.

We are judging by not the round he was drafted but by his production. His impact was average at best and I don't remember the specific numbers but PFF had rated bad in pass and run coverage, which is what many others noticed through observation.

Worrilow isn't bad, but he isn't that good either, thus can be upgraded. Or at least have competition to push him.

Put him in a scheme where he isn't trying to compensate for a missing LB and he will be fine. Is he upgradeable? Yes, but that player has to be really good and even then, he'll be pushed. You can win with a guy like Worrilow on the field. Just go back and watch games. He had to do too much. When you are missing a LB, you have to take on two gaps. That's very hard. If there was a LB, there are 7 gaps and 6 men in the box. Stupid.

What's funny is how they try and use measurables and forty times or VJs or 3 cone numbers or whatever to try and help the argument for players they like. Nobody wants to post Worrilows numbers.

6'1 230lbs

40: 4.59

3-Cone: 6.50

Short Shuttle: 3.97

30 Bench Reps

10'4 Broad Jump

34.5" VJ

Everybody points to how out of the realm of average Bud Dupree's athleticism is but ignore just how athletic Worrilow is. Nobody in this draft can touch those numbers together. Kendrick gets close on 40 time, broad jump and size, but not the three cone nor short shuttle. Stephone Anthony is bigger but doesn't his Worrilow's scores other than forty time. I remember that Kangaroo Score post a couple years back showing just how athletic the guy is.

Worrilow's 3 cone and 20 yard shuttle is better than Beasley. A lot of folks may not be too happy about that.
