Heavy Hitter
If we go pass rusher like we should, does it really matter who we get out of the top 5 if we can't stop the run first and foremost. We basically seen what happens to all 5 prospects when they can't pin their ears back and do what they do best. All you have to do is pop in the UGA tape against Clemson, Missouri, and Kentucky and the Georgia Southern tape against the Gators.
Straight outta Atlanta
Yes it matters. Picking this high in the draft you would want a complete football player and not one who can only rush the passer
Atlfanstckndenver
Yes it matters. The old adage that you must stop the run before stopping the pass is true, but that doesn't mean you just neglect the passing game until you get your run defense up to par. JJC28
Nope these guys on here want to take any edge guy thats there when we already have 20 guys battling for our front 7 and the guy we get at 8 want start. I think we need to get as as many guns they can to battle and not take a guy that can start. But thats just me.
FentayeJones
Of the five, it doesn't really matter to me because they are being drafted to primarily rush the QB. Besides, we have a team full of alleged run stoppers (Solai, Jackson, Reed, KB 71, Goodman, Clayborn, Worrilow) If we are relying on a rookie pass rusher to come in and shut down the run we are in trouble. Heavy Hitter
Oh I'm not saying we shouldn't. I'm just reacting to the members of the board on how if we get this player or this player they won't pan out. I posed the question just to say if we as a team can't stop the run (which we have struggled the last few years) no great pass rusher would be able to do what they do best if a team keeps it balance
YoungHeezy
Ray, Fowler, and Ray might be gone already so there are decisions to be made. If the staff feels Dupree is worthy of 8 then I can get behind that.
takeitdown
We have a number of run stoppers and have improved the LB corps...which was a big part of the problem.Beyond that, if we could get off the field on 3rd down (a pass rush problem) we would be much better. When you're near last in the league in 3rd down conversions, you're going to be near last in the league in defense. Get them off the field on 3rd down, and they don't have the chance to rack up those rushing stats. Pass rush is the biggest need of this team. Clark Kent™
Our Run D came alive towards the end of the year last year. I think statistically we were one of the better run stopping units the last few weeks. I agree Run D is very important, but i'm really not worried at all in that aspect of our team. Soliai, Hageman, Jackson, and Clayborn was extremely good against the run as a DE.You also have to look at the simplified defensive scheme. Last year we ran more variety of concepts and this year its cut and dry what we are going to try to accomplish. I think that alone will make an improvement to the defense. Truth B Told (TRU)
To me it doesn't matter but I like all 5 players for different reasons. 1. Fowler: could play multiple positions2. Beasley: perfect fit for the Leo position3. Dupree: could play the Leo position but also could be productive from the LE ala Michael Bennett4. Gregory: I like Leonard Floyd who is also slim in statue but can get after the QB. Floyd will be a 1st rounder next year, so why not Gregory5. Ray: had a bad pro day but so did Terell Suggs and James Harrison and we all know what kind of players they turn out to be. I don't put too much stock into that as he was recovering from a toe injury.
g-dawg
it matters because likely some of the 5:BeasleyFowlerRayGregoryDupreesome of those will likely FAIL in the NFL - some will likely be AVERAGE and maybe 1-2 will be GREAT. We gotta hope we lan the GREAT ONE.

I kinda like Dupree...Beasley and Fowler off the board, and I'm considering other options..or just let trader tom do his thing and move up for Beasley
trubirdfan4life
none of the pass rushers are complete players in this draft.....you get the best one available, then develop him from there. let the coaches coach

Hashbrown3
Let's also keep in mind that new Orleans is looking to do more ground and pound as drew gets older. Carolina is looking for Olinemen too. So it would be wise to make certain we can stop the run.
