How Did We Go From Beasley To Ray To Gregory To Dupree

Recommended Posts

Seems like every week we are eliminating talent to pick up a project with the 8th pick. I personally feel that Gregory's recent oops will wash him out and the fact that Dupree is from Ga alone will eliminate him due to the temptation with $ now added to the equation. Is it possible we just don't draft a pass rusher with the first? Would you really be that devastated with Amari Cooper or Landon Collins or a TE/RB?

Truth be told, there are many edge rushers I would draft:

Position-Player-Height-Weight-40Yard-Avg Sacks

Tier 1 - no brainers for me
DE - Dante Fowler Jr. (6'3 261 4.60) - 4.8
DE - Vic Beasley (6'3 246 4.53) - 8.3
Tier 2 - not before Gurley
LB - Alvin Dupree (6'4 269 4.56) - 5.9
DE - Randy Gregory (6'5 235 4.64) - 8.8
DE - Shane Ray (6'3 249 4.68) - 6.3
Tier 3 - second or third day picks
DE - Owamagbe Odighizuwa (6'3 257 4.62) - 3.1
DE - Hau'oli Kikaha (6'2 253 4.74) - 9.0
DE - Nate Orchard (6'3 250 4.80) - 11.0
LB - Lorenzo Mauldin (6'4 259 4.85) - 6.8
DE - Za'Darius Smith (6'4 274 4.83) - 5.3

Drafting ANY running back, especially one who is almost always injured, is just plain stupid. Too many backs that will give just as much production to be had in rounds 3-7.

This is exactly how I see them ranked too.

I'm not against a WR I would take Parker or Cooper before I too White though. Personally I think the best option at 8 may actually be OL and Scherff.

I just don't see any way we'd RB, Coopers college career was unreal and a good TE wouldn't kill us. I honestly would rather just wait till our 2nd and take Kikaha. His med history is BS. Crap happened two year ago and he's been wreaking he!! For two years since.id be happy with anybody but a second tier pass rusher honestly

The sad part is "we" let Dled influence alot of the discussion on here.I mean f****** Dled?Come on we're better than that.

One would hope so. Thing is, he changes with the wind on his predictions, so much so he's got to get someone right, so he can come back and say he was on the mark!

Dleds predictions mean absolutely nothing to me. I'm all ears when he has news and rumors. He's the closest thing to our fly-on-the-wall at the Branch, but even then he'll find a way to fck that up.

I think people forget that as players that we covert stocks rise, that the teams before us are interested as well.

Also we are not the only team needing pass rushers.

Jags have no one.

Redskins lost Orakbo

Jets need one to compliment that awesome D line

Bears need one

That's your 4 gone right there.

However, I am convinced there will be trades into the top 8 his year. This alone might help us out.

Anyone saying there OK with Landon Collins at 8 should be on your ignore list. Just terrible value. He's not even a elite prospect and projects as more of a SS than FS. Taking him to be a FS is such anti Quinn thinking.

We have to go edge rusher at 8. As much as I was against Dupree I'm starting to warm up to him a bit because re watching some of his games I do like his first step and closing speed. But he is a big risk. My big board for our pick is:

Beasley

Fowler

Gregory

Dupree

One of the 4 will definetly be there. All these guys have great potenial with Beasley being closer to a finished product. Fowler would be #1 for me if we ran a 3-4. Gregory and Dupree athletically are elite for there positions. I just like Gregory's length and fluidity more.
