freebird310
Wow, seems most of their fans see him as a bust in the NFL....the guy in no way shape or form is a 4-3 end he translates to 3-4 LBer, why would we draft him ?I just don't get why so many here are in love with this guy.....here is what the Nebraska fans say about him....http://forum.huskermax.com/vbbs/showthread.php?71813-Randy-Gregory-NFL-Bust

Tribal Chief
I think to a large extent they know Gregory better than we know Gregory .....I take it you like him ? point being made is its kinda hard to take fans serious because we often bash players who have success for reasons of our own. You can't tell me I'm lying. I just like seeing for myself rather than taking others word.
Oldskooler
I hope we go another direction if VB and Fowler are gone, the only two EDGE I want at 8.....Go look at my thread on our #8 pick. I'm sold on Dupree. I'm all-in in the Bud Train. If Smitty were still here I would say no. But Quinn has a track record of developing d-line talent. Dupree has phenomenal strength and speed. iQue
Considering the coaching staff didn't use him properly, I can see the fans point of view. I think Quinn/Cox could make him everything he should be, off the field issues aside

Sponge
I hope we go another direction if VB and Fowler are gone, the only two EDGE I want at 8.....Agreed. Everyone else seems like 2nd rd talent after them. We've got to get a impact player @ 8 no matter what. Even if that mean drafting Cooper or White. Sui_Generis
I don't listen to fans, especially Husker fans. They are pretty radical. All they have is Nebraska football and they aren't very rational in player evaluations. I've had some tell me Suh would bust and Crouch would be the greatest QB ever. On another note, I am fine with Vic Beasley but I want no part of Fowler. He looks like a high floor, low ceiling guy.
Herr Doktor
Fans can be the very worst at grading a player. Most fans tend to over look supporting cast and scheme. Thankfully, trained individuals make far better talent assessors. YouTube, the TV and the web are only a small part of the process. Its what happens away from our eyes that makes the difference. thanat0s
I don't see the fan hype around any of these pass rushers. It won't surprise me if all of them are busts as pros.
freebird310
There is one every year.A player who gets selected very early in the draft who just doesn't live up to the expectations and flops. Two years ago it was Oregon linebacker Dion Jordan, who the Miami Dolphins traded ahead of the Eagles to select with the No. 3 overall pick. All Jordan has done in two seasons with the Dolphins is get suspended for PED use. This year, the same scout who said Jordan wasn't going to be very good two years ago, says this year's most overrated player is Nebraska linebacker Randy Gregory.'He's a **** of an athlete,'' the scout said of the Cornhuskers DE/LB. "He just doesn't make plays. He's similar to Dion Jordan from a couple of years ago.''Gregory, 6-6, 240, finished the season with seven sacks, which is two more than Jordan had as a senior. But 4 1/2 of those seven came in back-to-back games against Miami and Illinois and another came against Rutgers."He does flash,'' the scout said. "You'll see him make a play and go 'wow' and then he won't do anything else the rest of the game. To me he's still a work in progress.'' You get bad talent drafted early and guys drafted late that should have been drafted early. That's why it's considered a crap shoot. dozer
If Gregory can get over smoking the ganga all the time he'll be one of the best players to come out of this draft.Agree 100% but at 8 I am playing the odds & the odds are it doesn't play out that way,My gut doesn't trust him to be on the field consistently for us & tells he'll need a babysitter in the NFL, jmho.Remember last year when Deion met with honey badger pre-draft? That interview helped his stock.Gregory can help himself out by doing something like that now or by passing a drug test now.A little bit of good PR would go a long way for him leading up to the draft. Still don't see it happening yet because his actions tell me that he is not as dedicated to football as he needs to be to be great in the NFL.If we stay Def at 8 I'd rather take Dupree or if we go BPA on the board there I'd rather take Cooper or White. Then focus on Def & OL the rest of the way. Vandy
Who cares what a few knucklehead fans think, including you two (oldfart and birdman) with obvious bias...what matters is what Quinn thinks, and I think he'll take him if Ray/Beasley/Fowler are gone Edited April 11, 2015 by Vandy

Even if that mean drafting Cooper or White. This x1000. I don't understand why some would dislike us drafting an impact WR when Roddy is coming down to his last years if VB and Fowler are gone. You just don't reach at 8 for a position just because. Waynes and Scherff I'd be fine with too.
g-dawg
freebird, while I like you as a poster and valued member of TATF - I discount anything you say about Randy Gregory because you are so close-minded about him and have an agenda here.of course that is your right! I don't care what husker fans say about him - I care about what the nfl scouts/gm's think of him.I do think the off-field concerns are real and could ultimately justify the Falcons passing on him (but I have no inside knowledge) - However, I think his on-field concerns have been mostly been successfully rebutted. Knight of God
HuskerTex"I agree. Gregory was even a bust for the Huskers this past season. Too many injuries, takes too many plays off. Rarely heard his name called all season. Reminds me of Jared Crick."
