My Dream Draft

Bored and rather than the normal mock, I figured I’d shake it up some. A few teams have made noise about possibly trading up for talent…I have the Falcons trading back with them to add more picks in this years draft. I know this is highly unlikely, darn near impossible, but I figured it be fun to dream of fixing our team in one off season. Included points for each pick as well. The scary thing is, we have the cap space to do this.

Trade #1

Atlanta – 8th – 1,400

Miami – 14th – 1,110 + 46th – 440

WR ahead of St. Louis, already rumored to have called teams trying to get into the top 10 for a wide receiver. This one is actually very possible.

Trade #2

Atlanta – 14th – 1,110

Philly – 20th – 850 + 52nd - 380

QB ahead of Houston, with Winston and Mariotta gone, Philly will reach for a QB in fear that Houston will take the 3rd ranked QB.

Trade #3

Atlanta 20th – 850

Indy – 29th – 640 + 61st – 292

Indy is in win now mode with a huge need at RT, assuming Cleveland takes either T.J Clemmings or D.J. Humphries at 19, the other will be the next pick.

Atlanta picks:

1-29: OLB – Eli Harold

Our LEO spot is filled for the next few years. Not an elite pass rusher day one, but has to tools to become one.

2-42: TE –Maxx Williams

Best tight end in the draft fills a huge need here, one more passing threat for Matt.

2-46: MLB – Paul Dawson

QB of the Defense, trouble in the locker room will have arguably the best MLB drop to the 2nd round.

2-52: WR – Devin Smith

Slide White to the slot, now have two WR that can take the top off a defense on play action.

2-61: DE - Nate Orchard

Another solid pass rusher to go opposite Harold.

3-73: G – Ali Marpet

Huge upgrade at a spot we need a ton of help in, fits the ZBS perfect.

4-107: RB – David Johnson

Our big back to complement Freeman, can also catch out of the back field.

5-146: S – Durell Eskridge

Won’t be starter year one most likely but would be our FS next year, huge upside.

6-185: CB – Nick Marshall

Another developmental piece here, could be nickel corner this year or RCB next.

7-225: OG/RT – Tayo Fabuluje

Extremely strong, needs work on technique. Could play a variety of spots. Depth pick here.

7-249: OLB – Ryan Delaire

Another piece to develop, a lot of upside here as well, would be backup to Harold at the LEO to keep Kroy on ST.

This is the second recent mock that I've seen that was actually good.

Thanks man, was just messing around to see what was possible and was extremely pleased with the results lol.

Give me Perryman and Funchess in the second.

Had Funchess at first, but already had a TE which is more what he will most likely be at the next level based on his speed.

Meh, I deleted that post. Funchess is not as good as Smith if he is one of your team faves.

Yea, that's him. Kind of a hybrid TE/WR.

I know alot of people like to say "can he block" in regards to tight ends but those same ones don't realize that some of the best in the league aren't great blockers. The ones that don't jump out at you are the ones who can block. Funchess would be a solid playmaker if those hands can quickly improve

I like Dawson more than the first two players. I really do not want to trade back in the 1'st.

Torn on him, he has a ton of talent, most have a first round grade from a talent perspective, but he has had issues in the locker room that I think Quinn could handle. I think the group we have now could handle players like this as Mike Smiths group could not.

Agreed, and I think his 'issues' are a bit overblown tbh. He's my #1 standup linebacker in this draft, OLB or ILB. He's just got "it" that linebackers need. No idea where he'll end up getting drafted anymore but I don't think his attitude would be a problem.
