Anyone Thinking Bud Dupree May Be Our Pick?

Recommended Posts

A very distinct possibility. As much as I like Beasley, he does not fit the DQ profile, but Dupree does.

I would be tickled if the Falcons get him, but not at 8 (my same thought with Gurley). A trade down in the first (Dupree), then a trade back up (Gurley) would be awesome.

At this point, and, if we don't trade-up, I'm beginning to think so.

Even if this were so, there seems to be a lot of potential - though he is considered raw talent.

Don't see it happening, Bud Dupree is gonna end up with saints.

I just don't know about Bud.

I wouldn't want to take him at 8.

If we drafted him and he wasn't a good "LEO" then he could still probably make for a good outside linebacker and situational pass rusher. But that's not the type of player I would want to take at #8.

This is what I want. To get Gurley though I think we'd need to leapfrog some teams in the first.

I read on SaintsReport the other day that one of the Saints fans who owns a bar in Lexington, KY has met some of the Kentucky football coaches and they have mentioned that Atlanta's interest in Dupree is "very high." He mentioned that apparently TD, Quinn, and Blank have met with Dupree in Kentucky several times.

You can take it for what it's worth, it wasn't a "bash the Falcons" type thread, as it was just that guy sharing some information.

No. He's the next Vernon Gholsten or Aaron Maybin if you ask me. 2rd talent at best, and moved up to mid round because of his combine. Is that the kind of player you want? He is so slow to read and react.

This was taken form an article breaking down Dupree:

Dupree has shown to be highly competent in zone drops and hes a terror in pursuit. Thats why I dont see Dupree being a bust. Sure, a disappointment is certainly possible, but hes too explosive and athletic (hes far more fluid than other test freaks like Vernon Gholston and Corneilus Washington).

Not to mention he's exactly the kind of guy Quinn likes. He's extremely coachable and a workaholic...

Fluidity isn't my argument, he is very slow at reading and reacting. I just compared him to another physical freak that was a bust. He doesn't have a great first step, and simply was never impressed with his game tape. I'd feel more comfortable with zadarius smith in the 2nd than dupree in the 1st. And In neutral on smith.

Darrell, it sounds like you disagree with the author below on his explosiveness. Either way if we do take Dupree, he'll be coached up & taught technique. If we don't take Dupree I'd rather go BPA than gamble on Gregory, just thinking Fowler, Beasley & Ray will be gone.
