Would A Gurley Pick Help Sell Psl's? This Guy Thinks So...

Recommended Posts

For casual fans of the Falcons, Gurley would no doubt offer a much more attractive reason to buy a PSL and ST's than Vic Beasley or Fowler or Ray. But people who are more serious fans will probably feel, as I do, that having one of the top edge rushers would be a much more valid reason to purchase a PSL and ST's.

The question is, how many casual fans are going to want to blow that kind of cash on PSL and ST's anyway? Probably only the very rich ones who would buy said PSL's and ST's as a perk for clients. I'd say they would definitely be Gurley fans by name recognition and because he would add more excitement to our offense.

But having said that, I don't believe the vast majority of PSL's will be purchased by these type fans, and the FO will not be taking Gurley in the first as a means to sell PSL's and ST's.

Building a winning team will sell more PSL's than any single player. Look at the Atlanta Hawks, they win the place is packed. Could a single player maybe had a more immediate impact on Hawks ticket sales possibly, but in the long term winning is what brings in the fans.

Drafting an exciting player sells tickets. Fans typically don't care as much about winning a ton of games. They just want to be entertained. I would refer you to the Vick years. The whole city was jacked 24/7 for the team, and it sure wasn't due to scoreboard success.

The only thing that would help sell PSLs is winning. Period. If Falcons drafted Gurley and only win 6 games next year PSLs are going no where. Falcons need to be winning 10+ games a year on a consistant basis quickly or this whole stadium deal is going to back fire. I know everyone on this board is a fan but we all know the truth. Atlanta is a city of transplants and they only come to the games if you are winning. I have been a season ticket holder since the Fulton County Stadium days and have seen it both ways. Gurley wont make a difference either way PSL wise. Wins and Losses will.

1st pick: Pass rusher

2nd pick: Gurley

Elation from the entire Falcons fanbase.

1st pick: Gurley

2nd pick: Pass rusher

"OMFG why did we pick Gurley first round! Injuriez pronez no rb first roundz!"

Depends on who's there. If certain players are there, then that could be preeetty big gap between that first pick pass rusher and that second pick pass rusher.

And thirdly, while I don't specifically advocate taking Gurley, it would more than mildly amuse me if they did, just so I can watch all the blind homers melt down like green army men in a microwave.

Lol do you even know what a homer is? If anything the homers want Gurley more. Yknow. Because GEORGIA.

Also, if we use Gurley in the return game and risk him getting injured more easily, along with piling up more hard collisions so early in his career, we're the stupidest football team in existence.

You're confusing the UGA homers with Falcons homers. The former are understandable since college fans are much more passionate. The latter wouldn't know what to do with themselves if the DQ messiah did something they weren't onboard with...
