Kimnrel And Bj Gone

Got some prospects and a draft pick. When you consider how impossible it was to get rid of BJ, it is a pretty good deal actually. But I knew it would take losing a good layer in the deal to get someone to take him.

I said this months ago: I would have given a team Justin Upton to take BJ and his contract. Instead we get peanuts for Justin, sit and wait with BJ, and it costs us Kimbrel. And it was to the same ******* team

Absolutely terrible job by what seems to be a completely lost front office

Wisler might be the best prospect we've gotten all offseason. It sucks to lose Kimbrel, arguably one of the greatest closers in history, but at the end of the day, he's still a relief pitcher. The fact that we got anything of value in a deal that sent Upton packing is beyond me.

My thoughts on the inclusion of Maybin and Quentin:

Maybin gives us the backup CF option that the team wanted and a guy that's got better defense than Young Jr., should the latter not hit as well as he has this Spring. I think this also cements the Peraza-to-CF talk. We are no longer contractually hamstrung by BJ (sorry, not calling him 'Melvin'), so we can afford to switch our top prospect to a bigger position of need IMO than 2B.

Quentin is merely a salary dump in-kind for SD. He's basically owed $11m this year ($3m buyout at the end of the year). He will most likely platoon with Gomes in LF.

It sucks to lose Kimbrel, as he was a fan favorite for everyone, but of all positions on this team that we could afford to lose a guy, that one was it.

I've said it a thousand times after we were "rebuilding" and gave up Justin, JHey & Gattis yet signed Markakis to that deal...are we sure Hart knows what he's doing? Seriously, I think everyone had stars in their eyes because of what he did in Cleveland and didn't factor 1) how long ago that was & 2) what he did in Texas.

If I'm wrong I'll own it but I'm done with Hart. I don't care that we haven't played a game this year.

#1 Padre prospect, #34 in baseball.

Honestly adding Melvin cut Kimbrels trade value in half. #1 prospect for half of a great closer is a good return. Throw in a ML level CF, a quality prospect, and a draft pick? Great trade.

No kidding. Wren was killed by the BJ and Uggla deals, but he built a good (not awesome) team, that has been dismantled for what seems "just because"

Hart destroyed this team in one offseason than wrens bad contracts. Lol. Fck this team.

To put it bluntly this team can go **** itself, Kimbrel could have been with the team and been a top reliever for another 10 + years even if we sucked for a couple of years every team needs a shut down reliever.

This ram is a complete disgrace, Freeman is probably next.
