I think Beasley and Fowler are gone. I think the choice comes down to Ray, Gregory and Bud Dupree - unlike others, I don't think the Falcons are looking very closely at the other top players (Cooper, White and Scherff).

Shane Ray is a little bit more of a projection as he played moreso as a hand-in-the-dirt 4-3 rush end - but he has very good passrush skills and he seems to be relentless and hungry - all traits that will impress Dan Quinn.

just my guess.

Probably correct. I think they'll want fowler or beasley. Are intrigued by Collins--but find 8 too high (they met with him at combine I believe)

Dupree has the explosiveness to entice them.

A long shot might be Harold. Kid could be one of those sneaky guys that vault up draft day

I think it's Beasley and I think falcons fans are overating him because they want him.

so this means:

1) you think Beasley will fall to #8

and

2) Falcons are overrating him.

why would the Falcons overrated him - because he is from Adairsville, GA and said he wants to be a Falcon? what is your rationale for Falcons overrating him?

OK, this thread is slightly different than others. Not looking for who you WANT the Falcons to pick - looking for who you think they WILL pick. - who is it gonna be?

I've been thinking about this the last few days. It's a tough question. I looked at 14 media mocks yesterday and Fowler was gone in all 14. Beasley was gone in 8 of them, Ray in 7 and Gregory in 5 of them. Dupree was available in all of them. So I think there is a high probability we will have to choose between Ray, Gregory or Dupree, if we stay at 8 and insist on drafting a pass rusher. Dimi is a needs based drafter so I don't expect him to suddenly change to a BPA approach. So with all that said, I think Fowler, Beasley and Ray will be gone, we will stay at eight and draft Gregory over Dupree. That was my vote.

I'd be a bit surprised if it isn't Shane Ray to be honest. I think Fowler and Beasley don't make it to us. Both QB's will go before our pick either by Tennessee or a trade. He will be the best pass rusher left on the draft board and will get snatched up if we don't field any trade back offers. I wouldn't be surprised to see this be the year that TD trades back for more picks since we are renovating this team anyway.

I voted Beasley and I think this draft is going to be very different at the top with how teams are going to pick before us.

yeah, would not surprise me. we need a few players to ascend. I remember about 13 years ago Justin Smith(DE-Mizzou) was outside the top 20 - and then shot up the boards and ended up being drafted in the top 5. He had mediocre career with Bengals and then went to Niners and exploded.

We need somebody like that to catch fire and then maybe see a cornerback rise into the top 7 - if that happens, then Falcons might be able to grab the 2nd passrusher off the board.

Agreed but that's why I'm hoping there is some major shakeup at the top. However I wouldn't be mad at all if we had to go with those three.

that would be so much fun to be in all those warroom meetings - of course I might come to blows w/ Dimitroff and be escorted out of the building a week before draft day.

I agree that the pass rusher choice at 8 is gonna come down to Gregory, Ray, and Dupree.

Given those three choices and if we go pass rush at 8 its gonna be Gregory. Part of the reason Quinn was hired was because he can handle players who aren't choir boys.
