WiscoFalcon
I for one love Vic Beasley and want him in Atlanta more than anyone, but I am almost positive he won't make it to our selection. If Vic Beasley is there at 8, he is my obvious choice to fix the pass rush. I am not sold on any of the other pass rushers to make a immediate impact on the team after him, so here I propose another idea. The offensive line for the Falcons is still a large question mark including a hole at LG. You and I both know that the main reason this offense struggles is because of the offensive line, desptte somewhat better play last season with what we had.So here I propose the idea to draft a pure mauler and absolute stud in Brandon Scherff, OT/OG, from Iowa.If we are talking about someone who can come in and have an immediate impact, I don't think there is a better choice here.Scherff played LT in college and was very good, but he would be even better at Guard or RT, both positions of need for us.Scherff can start day 1 at left guard and tremendously turn our offensive line into a strength on this team. Not only will he excel at LG, he can play RT easily, and be an emergency LT if something happens to Jake. The Cowboys had a poor defense last season, but they had the best O-Line in football, which propelled them into the playoffs with ease.We need to avoid neglecting this offensive line.CBS Sports - PLAYER COMPARISON: Zack Martin, Cowboys -- Scherff is athletic enough to remain outside at tackle but his build and physicality could be even more effective inside at guard. Regardless of where along the offensive line his NFL teams asks him to play, Scherff boasts the talent and toughness to stand out immediately.I don't know about you guys, but I would love this selection if we miss out on Beasley. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Oh, and by the way, Hope you guys are cheering for Bucky tonight!ON WISCONSIN! FalconFanSince1969
All you heard last off season was to fix the lines. All you're hearing this off season is to fix the pass rush. Last I checked neither line was fixed. But yea. Let's take Gurley at 8!!

vel
I think Scherff has All Pro type potential at LG honestly. I would not be mad in the slightest if we took him. I'm a fan. I just don't think that's the direction we're going to go unless it's last resort.

ATL_DirtyBirds
Reason no one is talking about him is because it isn't a flashy pick in the slighest. But yeah, drafting Scherff would do great dividends for our offense. However, it won't hide our defensive woes, which is fine since I know that it will take more than a season to fix that side of the ball. ATLFalcons11
You gonna turn every thread into a Gurley thread now? I was just thinking the same thing. Geez! Just stick to the subject if the OP. This guy sure knows how to hold a grudge. Lol!I like Brandon Scherff! I would be excited to have him on the OL and as far as I'm concerned him being at LG would fix the OL. I like our options at RT. putnam6
Yeah I agree, sexy doesn't mean anything. I like getting parts that you know more than likely will be solid for 5 plus years plus, especially when it is at a position of need. Schreff is an obvious stand out, think all DE/OLB are kind of clumped together, there will be one there at our second pick. Not gonna be an OL of Schreff's caliber at that pick however. I was expecting a lot of people to oppose this idea, but so far everyone loves it, and I hope the FO does to. This needs to be at least considered. Clark Kent™
I think he is talked about a lot on here. There was a big thread on him yesterday. But i agree. Had him in my mock a few weeks ago and got hated on.Worst case scenario he becomes a very good OG, with the likelihood of it being pro bowl/all pro level. But i'm not ruling out him possibly playing OT. Some think he can play LT, some don't. I think that he could definitely play RT though. FentayeJones
I think Sherff either has or had a vist so the FO is at least doing their due dilligence on him.
Falconsfan9
I agree 100% If Beasley isn't there, take Brandon Scherff unless a trade you can't refuse is offered. And I don't see that happening unless one of the 2 QB's is still on the board.
vitaman
Unlike some teams, we have a primary need at guard and a secondary need at tackle. This guy is close to being a proven commodity at both.

If I am right about how I think the 1st 8 picks go and not able to trade back I think he has to be the pick. Just my opinion though. He sure makes the run game better out of the gate. He also gives us some flexibility he can play guard while we make a decision on Baker come next year. Edited April 4, 2015 by Sobeit

zekeyboy1
I wanted to trade down for Zach Martin(his comparison)last year. lol. Especially after he lit up the Senior Bowl.. Was ok with the Matthews pick though..
Cheyakita
Good post, the fact is everyone is radar locked on a pass rusher and willing to take the 5th best just to say look we got one. If Fowler and Beasley are gone you absolutely start looking at positions of need in other areas..Schreff, Collins, Cooper are all quality choices and positions that need to be upgraded. If rather look at Orchard in the second and take one of the above then reach just because your desperate.
