falconidae
http://atlantafalcons.blog.ajc.com/2015/04/03/mock-1-0-falcons-select-todd-gurley-with-8th-overall-pick/"...The Falcons can’t mess this up like they did the last time they had the eighth pick in the draft. They must pick the best player available (Todd Gurley) and not pick for need (pass rusher). The best player available in Mock Draft 1.0 is former Georgia running back Todd Gurley and that’s who the Falcons should take.Back in 2007, the Falcons were in need of a pass-rusher and selected Jamaal Anderson with the eighth overall pick...."That's just stupid, a RB coming off knee surgery is not the BPA, because he won't be available the first few games of the season. And he's doing revisonist history because Anderson had a first round grade going into the draft.Bad enough when posters here do this, but DLed should know better. Halsey.
Teams don't care if a rookie misses a few games to start a rookie season. Edited April 3, 2015 by Halsey.

Bobby.Digital
Anderson was a 2nd round pick a month before the draft. How could you be a Falcons beat writer and seriously mock Gurley. Smh
falconidae
Teams don't care if a rookie misses a few games to start a rookie season.Yes they do.Especially a top ten pick. And, it's not so much that he's missing a few games, it that he was injured. And injured every year in college, with fewer games and smaller opponents than he'll see in the NFL. It's a horrible risk for a top ten pick.Think DLed is just pandering to the Bulldog crowd.
marcVA
Can we please have another reporter reporting for the falcons? DLED is horrible
BritFalcon
I'm not surprised. I imagine any mock that features Gurley will garner more page views in Georgia. D-Led may not seem so smart, but his editor probably has a few brain cells and knows how to generate a few clicks for the AJC.
HEIST
Good. To all of you who want Gurley at 8, you and DLed have the same train of thought.

FentayeJones
Teams don't care if a rookie misses a few games to start a rookie season.Nah I disagree. Teams generally want a top 10 pick to start day one.

Falcanuck
DLed should know better, but he has demonstrated many, many times that he does not.
FalconFanSince1969
DLed should know better, but he has demonstrated many, many times that he does not.The people on this board should know better, but......Every single year we have a small crowd screaming for RB's and WR's when our defense is freakin terrible. thanat0s
The one point he has is what I mentioned yesterday. As the draft is very likely going to play out, we will be faced with taking the third best option at pass rusher, or select from the top prospect at RB, OL, or DB. If they are wise, they'll not settle for need above talent. If we assume that, then taking Gurley makes perfect sense if they have him rated highest. xiv_T_E_C_O_
No big surprise, a writer for the AJC is trying to stir things up by appealing to a big demographic of Falcon fans, UGA fans.

If you traded down from 8 to the 20's, then he makes much more sense, but not at 8.The one point he has is what I mentioned yesterday. And it may very well be that the 3rd best pass rusher is STILL the highest rated player.
