Falcon Man™ Posted April 2, 2015 Share Posted April 2, 2015 Does Cam Newton's antics (pouting, arrogance; etc) bother you?How about if you were the fan of a rival team?I know you really don't have much of a choice because he is the QB of your team, but I am also honest when a player on the Falcons acts in a way that is showboating or being a poor sport.For example, I COULD NOT STAND that stupid Spoon dance Sean Weatherspoon did. Or Weems falling to his knees and looking up to the sky after literally walking into the endzone last season.I think Cam is talented and will probably only get better, but does he really need to give that stupid first down thing EVERY time he gets a first down? I mean, I don't let it get me all butthurt, but it doesn't belong in the game. Being excited and fired up is one thing, but being downright cocky is another. The whole antics thing with the superman TD celebration never bothered me but I wish he would stop the whole first down finger point thing but that was my only really grip about him. I have also found it funny how butthurt some of y'all didn't get over him tho. Its how I know y'all see him as a real threat to your team otherwise you wouldn't care.As far as Cam's football problems. I don't think Cam's problem is football IQ really cause even this past year he had a 4 game stretch of great football from the pocket with him dealing with his ankle injury. I think his main issue is having so many called runs that it hamps his development as a pocket passer. I feel like Shula needs to call less called runs and read options so he can develop more as a passer and I also feel lie Cam just needs to work on his accuracy in general. Hopefully with an off season where he can work on football rather than ankle rehab like last offseason with KB, Philly, etc, he can improve. Show boating has been in the league for a while and everyone likes to come up with their own signature celebration for some reason. Some of its stupid but like I said it's not going anywhere unless players start getting flagged which I think is eventually coming. O-Ther Posted April 3, 2015 Share Posted April 3, 2015 Lot of players do the first down finger point so no reason to let Cam doing it bother you any more than anyone else. The Superman TD thing we've pretty much loved since his first one, and every player is entitled to come up with their own unique celebration. With all the rushing TDs he has being a QB, he's earned the right to do it after running one in. As far as the towel schtick, if it helps him focus on the game in front of him, great. It's not like he's putting it on his face and blocking out everything in a "I'm too good for this ish" way. He's built up a lot of cred with the fans by giving the footballs from scoring plays to kids in the crowd and making his teammates do likewise. He's done a poo ton of children's charity work in Charlotte and hasn't done something stupid like getting arrested or suspended. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So he has developed a brand.. like his owner Jerry Richardson told him to do.. That's why the signature celebration and no tattoos.. So he can Market himself and the team.. Every commercial he does you rarely see him without the Panthers uniform on..3rd Did you have a problem with the Dirty Bird or Prime Time..Yes, actually I did. Unless you count the towel he puts over his head (which he does, winning or losing).I don't like the first down finger pointing tho...I think he may have stopped doing it toward the end of the year, I don't remember seeing it, but yeah I hate it.I love the TD superman celebration tho.
