Trading Up For Gregory

Recommended Posts

No one knows how far he will fall on draft day. Maybe he is off our board, maybe he is near the top of it. At what point(if any) do you move back into the 1st to grab him? Assume it will cost whatever the value chart says it will.

For reference, our 2nd and 3rd round picks would be worth about the same as #25 overall. I'd do that but don't see him falling that far.

If we're going to trade back up into the end of the 1st round, I'd much rather trade up for Eric Kendricks, Maxx Williams, Todd Gurley, or even one of the DTs (Brown, Phillips, Goldman, Davis).

Now obviously that changes if we do something shocking like take Cooper/White or Scherff with the No. 8 selection. Then I'd definitely want us to consider moving up from No. 42 to grab Gregory or Eli Harold.

Moss and Dez were clear cut elite prospects. Moss went 21st. Dez went 24th. I see Gregory as equal in terms of red flags and not quite as good of a prospect. And if anything, teams may be extra cautious with the NFL cracking down on player conduct and Gregory starting off with 1 failed test.

I can see him going in the top 20 even with the revelation. I think he may have picked a good year to test positive.

Every year from now on is a good year. Folks have a hard time understanding that the world and the world's opinion on Marijuana is changing. The laws are changing. Maybe folks should update their opinions are up-to-date.

It does not matter what the world's opinion of weed is. It matters whether teams want to high draft a guy who could be sitting at home serving a banned substance suspension on Sundays. I'm all for legalizing it but as long as the NFL says no, it's going to be a problem for guys who want to indulge. Even if it becomes 100% legal, it will still likely be banned in the NFL like a bunch of other substances that are legal in society but banned for sport.

Is it me or did a lot of people around here fall in love with Gregory AFTER he failed the drug test? Seemed like everybody hated him before then.

It's you.

Saying a Top 10 talent who likes reefer will be long gone by pick 25 is not falling in love, it's just being realistic
