Dirtybird56
No man, we have been losing. I don't care if our offense has to score 27 points a game or we're essentially guaranteed a loss. I don't care that every time it's 3rd down Matt Ryan knows he has to do something to convert or else the D goes on the field and more points get added to the scoreboard. I don't care that Matt Ryan has to put up points with one of the worst rushing games the past 3 seasons, nor do I care that he has had some of the worst pass protection in the league the past two seasons. Do I care we essentially tell our QB "hey I know we're putting you out there with the worst rushing attack, the worst defense in the league, and very poor pass protection so you're constantly under pressure and playing from behind, but go win this for us champ"? No because he is the QB so it's his fault/purple
Hingle McCringleberry
Good article, it would be hopeless to think that this would help in quieting down the Matt Ryan detractors.
Da_Truth
Excellent read. Goes to show you, NO ONE can carry a team by themselves. Put a better OL, running game and defense on the field and then let's see what happens.
Godzilla1985
Yet many geniuses on this site think we would need to draft an overrated RB over taking one to the top 5 pass rushers in this draft. GATXBOI
I got a feeling in my heart we are about to go on a run like the"Dirty Birdz" Matt Ryan better quarterback than Chris Chandler. Freeman can be a better running back than Andersen. Our receivers are definitely better. Our defense can be better. The Atlanta Falcons are Super Bowl Bound anytime within the next five years
Tuggle'2
Soooo much I like in there!Blaming Ryan for the Falcons' struggles is akin to criticizing jockey for poor race placement when all he was given to ride was a sick pony. Sounds harsh? Perhaps. But it's the Falcons who have failed Ryan in recent years, not the other way around. So stop hurling eggs at the jockey. While many are quick to focus on the few games Ryan struggled in, they're even quicker to overlook the games he's played well in. Unfortunately for Ryan, their hasn't been a consistent correlation between him playing well as an individual and the Falcons winning games as a team.Me likey! wleggett
All lies. Trade Matt while he still has value then draft a mid rounder. Everyone knows Ryan chokes in the big games. /purple
McNulty
I love Ryan but outside of a couple of games last year he wasn't spectacular and threw some of the worst INT's in his career. But if Ryan ever stays on the playing level he was in the first game last year he's an MVP

UnrealfalcoN
Aside from asamoah, last year's oline was one of the worst matt's seen because of the injuries
insight
Matt Ryan clearly is a very good QB but some believed that Mike Smith and Mularky were holding him back from becoming like Brady, Manning, and Rodgers. As it turns out they were right all along he plays his best ball leaning on a strong run game, play action and a decent defense.

SOI
Matt Ryan is my all-time favorite player/Falcon....and his cap hit is nearly 20 million dollars this year.Soooo, if someone wants to justify the fact that he doesn't have a team around him, how 's about him taking one for the team. TeamPlayer1
If every player on offense and defense played up to Matt Ryan's level, we would have 3 rings. This is a team game!!

Dirtybird56
What do you think Brady, Manning or Rogers would have done with the 2012 team? In their 5th year in the league? Hard to see them taking that team farther than Ryan (Godgers aside)Or at their current ages? Well that just wouldn't be fair to compare

This is a team game!!We've had one real chance to get a Superbowl in Matt Ryan's tenure and that was in 2012. The entire team folded in the second half including Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan is not the problem but he is not putting together dominating performances like Aaron Rodgers, and Brady which propelled their teams to greatness. We had a chance to make the playoffs this season. The offense scored 3 points at home against Carolina and Matt Ryan threw two interceptions for touchdowns in what turned out to be a embarrassing route. Everybody including Ryan must get better. Wjcorner
It's funny how years earlier everybody was talking about all of Ryan's wins as a QB, how Ryan had won the most since 08, how Ryan has a top 3 win percentage and x amount of 4th quarter comebacks...but now they are so quick to say Ryan can't do it all by himself. 2 way street is all I'm saying... Wjcorner
just like Brady, manning and Rodgers? lolWere you here in 2009 and 2010. People were saying we shouldn't be trying to set up the pass with the run but the other way around...now everybody wants to go back to tough yards and play action bombs

Free Radical
Ryan barely even saw the ball the entire second half against the 49ers.
