The Case For Eli Harold

Recommended Posts

And why I think he's the second best LEO prospect in the draft for us.

No point explaining the rest of my opinion - the video should do that pretty well. With the possible trade down due to Noisegate (as much as we like to ignore it), Harold seems like a much more realistic pick for us, and I think he'd be a fantastic fit. Hope you guys enjoy!

PS: I accidentally listed his weight as 147 lbs instead of 247, and I said "horizontal" to the ground instead of "parallel." Minor things that bothered me, shouldn't affect the gist of the video though. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

EDIT: a few days later, not nearly as big of a fan. :/ still like his potential but wouldn't take him early.

Anything is possible but at 8 he would be a reach. A trade back would be good.

Can't forget that Pioli reached for Jackson @ 3 because of need. He knew it was a reach but needed him for the 3-4. If he feels we need a Leo, who knows. Much harder to trade down back then though. No one wanted to trade up.

Good video!

I caught on to Harold about a month ago when I originally thought that he'd last to the second round but after watching more and more of him I realized that he's most likely going in the late first round.

I want Beasley or Fowler. I like Shane Ray but his injury is a concern. I'm not sold on Gregory or Dupree at #8.

An awesome scenario would be for Mariota to fall to #8 (I highly doubt that would happen) and Chip Kelly comes calling. Move back to #20 to select Eli Harold while picking up a fortune (It's Chip Kelly and Mariota---he'd probably give up more than what is necessary to grab his golden boy). Heck even if a team like KC, CLE, SF, or MIA wanted to jump ahead of St. Louis/Minnesota for White/Cooper.

I didn't know that Harold is only 20 years old, he has a high ceiling. His burst and bend are already good. I think that our coaching staff could help him get better at using his length to create separation from blockers.

Needs to learn dicipline. Over plays. He could have increased his sack count by 6 or more if he had better dicipline

I agree, overall. He did have several missed sacks. But everything is sooo easily coachable, especially for a guy with the drive he has.

Moore, he is not who I want in the first, but your work on this is incredible, major props ....

Thanks!

I must say...Dude has some of the best body control I've seen. Beasley can't use his hands for shite and Ray doesn't have Harold's strength

Yeah, he's so shifty, it's guys like him who are pretty much guaranteed to be better in the NFL than they were in college.

Side note...originally was doing an analysis of Beasley, but there were too many good plays that he had, was hard not to include all of them. Then I tried Fowler, but he didn't have nearly as many that popped out...sadly. Then I said screw it, gonna do a player I really dig that no one seems to mention much. And after watching so many of his games I really came around.

the one downside now on Eli is he seems to miss too much after beating his man. Definitely not a top 10 pick but if he fell into range to grab or slightly move up from 2nd rounder to nab someone to pair w/ Beasley or Gregory, I could get onboard that ride.

At 20yrs old, he seems to have most room for improvement.

I agree, though I think if he'd waited until his Senior Year or had a better coaching staff/team around him he'd be a top 10 pick most likely. Potentially top 5 if he had both. He really needs to get better at not flying by the QB/RB, to just square his shoulders and not try to use his arms to snatch them. But the potential is huge. Trade down is the ideal for sure. After Ray and Gregory's recent stuff, just can't see Beasley at 8.

Great job Falcan Moore!

I've started really liking Harold as a trade back option as well.

The guy is just as talented as the top edge rushers in the draft, he just needs someone to bring more of that ability out of him. I think Quinn and the new staff would do that for him.

Even if Goodell does take a draft pick, the Falcons could still find a way to bolster the defense and even the offense with good young talent if they play the draft smart.
