Look Who've We've Picked In Past Drafts, At The Same Picks We Have This Year ---

Recommended Posts

Pretty pitiful, huh? I've been a Falcons fan since their inception in 1966, and I barely remember ANY of these guys. Except for maybe the first three picks at #8, and of course Renfree and T. Robinson, hardly ANY OF THEM ever amounted to anything!
Hope we can do better this year ---

First Round: Eighth pick (Eighth overall)

Second Round: 10th pick (42nd overall)

Third Round: Ninth pick (73rd overall)

Fourth Round: Eighth pick (107th overall)

Fifth Round: 10th pick (146th overall)

Sixth Round: Ninth pick (185th overall)

Seventh Round: Eighth pick (225th overall)

Seventh Round: 32nd pick (249th overall) from New England through St. Louis

Knowing the club's draft choices in the upcoming draft, take a look at which player(s) the Falcons selected with the exact same picks in previous drafts.

Eighth-overall picks in Falcons history:

2007 - DE Jamaal Anderson (Arkansas)

2004 - DB DeAngelo Hall (Virginia Tech)

1992 - T Bob Whitfield (Stanford)

42nd-overall picks in Falcons history:

1999 - TE Reggie Kelly (Mississippi State)

1972 - DT Rosie Manning (NE Oklahoma)

73rd-overall picks in Falcons history:

1992 - LB Howard Dinkins (Florida State)

107th-overall picks in Falcons history:

History will be made in 2015 as the team will select its first player with the 107th-overall pick in franchise history.

146th-overall picks in Falcons history:

1980 - DB Mike Davis (Colorado)

1972 - WR Fred Riley (Idaho)

185th-overall picks in Falcons history:

2007 - DB David Irons (Auburn)

1975 - T Brent Adams (Tennessee-Chattanooga)

1969 - FL Jim Callahan (Temple)

225th-overall picks in Falcons history:

1974 - DT Larry Bailey (Pacific)

249th-overall picks in Falcons history:

2013 - QB Sean Renfreeicon-article-link.gif (Duke)

2012 - DT Travian Robertson (South Carolina)

Every time I see Deangelo Hall's name I always am reminded of a slow azz one shoe'd Hines Ward running away from him for a TD.

I always think about the dam near scuffle between him, Smitty, Haynesworth, and a few other Redskins and Falcons players. Of course, there are quite a few memorable D Hall moments worth forgetting.

I guess this is fun to look at if you understand that there is absolutely no context towards this year's draft. I'm excited to see a continued influence from Pioli and the new roster-shaping based on Quinn's advisement and desires.

D-Hall was actually a good CB at one time early in his career.

He got caught up with thinking that he was his mentor Deion and he has pretty much sucked ever since.

Yeah, as a player, he was pretty good early in his career. Not sure when the wheels fell off, but he turned into an egotistical maniac and his play suffered for it ---

I guess to put this into true context, you'd have to see who went before and after our picks, and how their career went. I just thought it was somewhat interesting to see what we had done over the years, at those particular picks in the draft ---

And I wish I could share your excitement about what's happened in FA, so far --- and it may all work out just fine --- I haven't a clue!

I just know that I haven't been excited about a single thing we've done, so far. It's just been mediocre players, some with injury history (which is troubling), and guys who are at or near the end of their career.

I'm trusting they'll make up for it in the Draft, though --- otherwise, this may go down as the most boring off-season I have ever seen!
