Could This Be The Plan At Guard?

ESPN Falcons reporter Vaughn McClure reports OT Sam Baker is open to playing guard in 2015.

Recovering from a torn patellar tendon, Baker missed all of 2014. Knee issues also limited him to just 190 snaps in 2013. With Jake Matthews locked in at left tackle, Baker will battle for a job at either right tackle or guard. At tackle, he'd compete with Lamar Holmes, a rookie or both. It remains possible that Baker gets released. He's a 30-year-old (in May) injury liability. Cutting him would create $1.9 million in cap space. Feb 19 - 7:04 PM

Old News I Know, But could Sam Baker excel at ZB Guard? With Person there to compete and backup?

If it is true that cutting him after June 1 would free up only 1.9 million, then it makes sense to keep him and let him compete for the starting LG spot. He didn't fare well in a power scheme, but he just might make a good ZBS Guard.
