FalconBlood
ESPN Falcons reporter Vaughn McClure reports OT Sam Baker is open to playing guard in 2015.Recovering from a torn patellar tendon, Baker missed all of 2014. Knee issues also limited him to just 190 snaps in 2013. With Jake Matthews locked in at left tackle, Baker will battle for a job at either right tackle or guard. At tackle, he'd compete with Lamar Holmes, a rookie or both. It remains possible that Baker gets released. He's a 30-year-old (in May) injury liability. Cutting him would create $1.9 million in cap space. Feb 19 - 7:04 PMSource: Vaughn McClure on TwitterOld News I Know, But could Sam Baker excel at ZB Guard? With Person there to compete and backup? FalconBlood
I know he wasnt as good in power scheme, but ZBS may suit him. As a stopgap this year.
RS91
I think that would be a disaster. Baker is too weak to play anything but LT and he isn't athletic enough (especially after all the knee surgeries) to play anything in a ZBS.
AndySG
He can't stay healthy whether he's at tackle, guard or punter.

Romfal
for now as far as I'm concerned, the plan is Guard in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Dem Birds
Sam Baker is open to having a job. That's it. They could ask him to hold for kicks and as long as they paid him what he making now he's do it. For 3 games until the ball hit his finger too hard and he ended up in IR

If it is true that cutting him after June 1 would free up only 1.9 million, then it makes sense to keep him and let him compete for the starting LG spot. He didn't fare well in a power scheme, but he just might make a good ZBS Guard.
