Dirtybird3 2,677
How you cut Blalock before you cut Sam Sack Maker Baker is beyond me. I think his cap hit is alot less if we wait until j June 1st. Our he does us a solid and restructures his deal or retires.
Tandy 18,278
How you cut Blalock before you cut Sam Sack Maker Baker is beyond me.Because if we cut Baker before June 1 - we take the full hit this year. After June 1 - we split the hit over 2 years.
capologist 13,665
Baker is a post-June 1 cut by necessity. My guess is they'll see if they fill his roster spot in FA or the draft before making it official, but he's likely gone.I'd say so. They can designate it now if they want to but that would be useful to negotiate a Julio extension...
rollo lawson 955
Hot ****, all these guys I've wanted released are actually getting released. 3/3 so far. Quinn's not messing around.Damnnn Skippy. Quinn is putting in work!

Herr Doktor 8,532
You have to think Motta, Babineaux and Spoon are looking likely. I realize spoon is a FA. But he is looking expendable.
caver50 710
Baker was a disaster at RG that one time we tried him there.Yes he was, which concerns me Baker playing LG, so now we need to figure out whoin FA or draft. Quinn must have somebody in mind already.

silentbob1272 6,050
I wonder if Quinn's opinion of TD is still as high as it was when he first signed. I can't see how it could be after seeing the bloated contracts he handed out to talent that Quinn has identified so quickly as expendable.
Sheldon Cooper 623
Good to see the new staff knows an overpaid under productive player when they see one. Even better, they know what to do with them.
hjerry 26,643
Same. Now watch Motta get cut.The only way that Motta, or any player on their rookie contract gets cut right now, is if their health isn't right. Right now, they're trying to save money.
Sheldon Cooper 623
Because if we cut Baker before June 1 - we take the full hit this year. After June 1 - we split the hit over 2 years. They cant cut him after june 1st because he has 18.1 mil guaranteed remaining and 9 mil this year and next would suck when he gets about 7 to play. I would rather pay him in 2015 even if its to rehab.
Andre5000 1,008
He's obviously been watching film and has a plan. I was sorta hoping Blalock would retire. He looks to be in pain a lot
Andre5000 1,008
That works out fine then b/c our RG may not be a rookie, and the RT will be either Schraeder or HolmesNO WAY will these guys let Holmes make the team.

I would rather pay him in 2015 even if its to rehab. He doesn't have $18.1 million remaining. He has the prorated portion of his signing bonus, which is $9.2 million, which is why that is the cost to cut him pre-June 1. If we cut him post June 1, we have dead money this season of $2.8 million (and a net cap savings of about $4.5 million), and then $6.4 million next season.I'm not saying the team wants to take on $6.4 million in dead money next season. I'm just saying if they want to cut Baker post June 1, that is imminently doable. We've carried more dead money than that in worse cap situations before.

Exactly the kid doesn't cost that much to keep and has shown promise in spurts, it's worth holding on to your young guys that stay on the field when they're called on. Syndicate0017 293
Can't cut him unless we sign him - he's a FAI'm imagining the TATF meltdown now if he's re-signed. I hate Biermann, but I'd be down for that!
