2015 Imd Game

1,376 posts in this topic

Okay boys & girls, it's draft season. First off, this is not a signup thread. I just want to gauge interest in doing this again and bring up a couple of changes.

First, we're going to use a more realistic cap space scenario, so it will behoove GMs to take a much closer look, not only at draft picks, but also the cap space of the team that you want to GM. m2Falcons has been doing a lot of work on making the cap space workable in the game format. We will explain how that's all going to work out a little closer to time for the game to start. But, every team will have some cap money, even those that are in the negative when the game kicks off.

Second, I'm going to try and bring back my crappy website to host some of the data instead of filling up the boards with it. I'll post that info later as well.

Third, as usual, Free Agency are the most difficult portion of this game. It's hard to find a single complete list anywhere, and usually most lists are fairly inaccurate. Once I get a good of a list as I can, I will post it on my website and I would appreciate it if you guys would check it out before the game starts. I'll have a couple of days grace period after the game starts, but about 3 days in I'm going to freeze the free agent list and names won't be added to it again.

Fourth, if you don't want to be a GM, but would like to participate, I'd like to bring back the player agent aspect. I liked that when we did it before. Basically, the agent will have a client list (half or a third of the free agents) and it will be your job to get your players on a team with the best salary and situation that you can earn for them. So that option is available if anyone wants to do that instead of GM. If you want to do this, you can let me know now.

Finally, I've found this website (http://www.prosportstransactions.com/football/DraftTrades/Years/2015.htm) with a full 7 round draft order with the real-life trades already identified. Look this over and see if you all agree. I see one or 2 trades that I have not been able to verify, but they are very late round trades, and not that big of a deal at this point. I think it looks good, but I want you guys to look at it and make sure it looks good to you as well.

As always, I'm in. And Im really hoping for a competent Falcons GM this year. Have we figured out a better way to fill that spot?

I'll be PM'ing some of the regulars too, so looks like we're off to a good start interest wise. Now I just have to get everything ready to go. Start thinking about teams, I'll post the signup thread during the playoff bye week.

I did the draft game Romfal ran, I ran Pittsburgh Washington and SD. I wouldn't mind doing the Falcons in this one, or Pittsburgh either. Was there a problem with the Falcons in last years game? King Jigsaw was hinting at it...

I believe the owner traded up to take a CB in the first, if that tells you anything..

well, he wanted the safety from Louisville and I think we made the trade the day before, but he never told me or anyone to make the trade pick specific nor who he wanted and the player he wanted went just before that pick, so he took what he thought was BPA at that point.

Here is a preliminary view of the current Cap Space per team, assuming an NFL increase to 140 million for 2015, from OverTheCap http://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space

and the corresponding IMD2015 Cap Space allowances. Any significant contractual changes that teams make from now until the actual IMD2015 begins will be accounted for with an update at the start of IMD2015. This is a preview of where teams are now.

Not every potential contractual scenario can possibly be accounted for in the IMD. Not every year will be the same for each team as it relates to Cap Space and FA. Teams with the most Cap Space in 2015 may very well be a team with the least in 2016. A team with lots of Cap flexibility in the real world one year (ability to make cuts that free up a lot of Cap) may have virtually no flexibility the next year.

We can't trade 'future picks' in the draft and we can only make minor reasonable assumptions for the purposes of FA and Cap Space. I have looked at every teams situation and made reasonable increases to their Cap Space for IMD2015 purposes, but there is only so much you can assume. Some teams are pretty locked in right where they are while others have more flexibility. The IMD2015 Cap Space numbers may not please everyone but just remember... the Free Agency period is just one part of the IMD game.

King Jigsaw, Romfal, sounds like the Falcons drafter was just following TD's example. Draft Safeties, Corners and Recievers! We can find linemen Sunday. Or maybe Monday when we sign the UDFAs... :p

There are really only two teams I want this year but I work a lot so I'll probably be on the clock when the signup thread gets posted. Ugh.
