Coaches Know The Problem In Atlanta Was The Front Office And Roster, Not The Coaching

Recommended Posts

This is ultimately why Rex passed and others will. Only a young HC arrogant enough to think they can overcome a deficient roster would dare come here. We still have significant question marks on the OL and front 7 on defense. You can grab a franchise QB in a single year if you're lucky and smart. But an OL and DL like we fielded in 2013 can take 2-3 years to rebuild. And that's if you make GOOD choices.

Lol coaching was DEFINITELY a problem

Detroit and Cleveland come to mind??

Those 2 losses were definitely Smitty's mistake.

But overall across the tenure the problem has been with the talent. Especially the last 2 years when our LOS deteriorated. We've got decent skill positions on offense, a kicker, and one very solid CB. That's not much foundation.

He didn't pass..... He was never offered the job here and there was no guarantee he was ever going to be offered the job here.

I could use the "Ask Madden" option every time and coach a better game than Smith. Dude was garbage

Speaking of the infamous LOS...Who's decision was it to play Konz over Hawley for most of 2013? Who decided to keep Jake playing throughout most of the year even though he had some significant injuries that could've healed faster with rest? Who continually employed this "multiple" scheme and stuck to the "plan" even though it hadn't worked? Who decided to drop TJax into coverage? Who's call was it to play 3-4 linemen in a scheme that obviously maximized their weaknesses, instead of their strengths? Who is famous for saying "We'll take what the defense gives us?"

Blank fired him for a reason

Rex moved to Buffalo because he saw the writing on the wall.

With the abundant cap space, several key players can be added. We have the money to sign Orlando Franklin, Jerry Hughes and possibly a TE.

You mean the two games where all the defense had to do was stop a game winning drive with less than one minute remaining, and couldn't?

I remember.

No, the games where Smitty called off the dogs and burned 1 of our timeouts we could've used simply because if we didn't, "they would have."

Those 2 games

What kind of A-list coach wants to come to a situation where you have depleted personnel, a meddling owner who just fired your winning-est coach and a fan base with caviar expectations and a malt liquor budget. We'll get a 1st time head coach or a retread will very few miles left.

Get ready to explore what long time fans have known before most of you were born. It's gonna be a dry spell. You'll miss Mike Smith before it's over.

Yep. This is looking like 1983 all over again. :(

That's just your blind hatred for Smitty.

However, despite whatever Smith did in those games, had the defense made a stop when it was most important to make a stop, we would have won both games.

Link? Proof??

And no, that's my "scientific method" investigation for taking into account factors that made him a horrible coach. Not liking their style and blind hatred are on opposite ends of the spectrum
