I Hope Rex Knows Alot Of People

This may make Rex think twice and head back east.

The expected shakeup on the 49ers’ coaching staff continues with reports that assistant secondary coach Greg Jackson is busy on the recruiting trail for new Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.

Jackson spent four seasons with the 49ers, working primarily with the safeties, while secondary coach Ed Donatell mostly tutored the conerbacks.

Jackson is reaching out to recruits and is expected to be named Michigan's secondary coach, according to multiple reports.

Donatell’s future with the 49ers remains uncertain. After blocking him from interviewing for defensive coordinator positions with Tampa Bay and New Orleans after the 2011 and 2012 seasons, the 49ers granted permission for him to interview Wednesday with Washington for their coordinator opening.

Kevin Tolbert, the 49ers’ assistant strength and conditioning coach the past four seasons, has also reportedly rejoined Harbaugh at Michigan. Tolbert originally joined Harbaugh in 2009 at Stanford. He returns to Michigan, where he worked from 2001 to ’07 under Lloyd Carr.

John Morton, who served as Harbaugh’s wide receivers coach with the 49ers, is not expected back with the organization. He already appears in the University of Michigan directory, reports the Detroit Free Press. Morton was the highest-paid receivers coach in the NFL, according to a 49ers source.

Reggie Davis, who spent four seasons on Harbaugh’s staff with the 49ers, returned to the college ranks last week to accept a job as running backs coach with Nebraska. Davis spent his first three seasons with the 49ers as tight ends coach before moving to help Mike Solari on the offensive line last season. Davis formerly worked with new Nebraska coach Mike Riley as running backs coach at Oregon State from 2008 to 2010.

Offensive coordinator Greg Roman will not be back with the 49ers next season. Roman is a candidate for the Buffalo Bills head-coaching job. He is scheduled to interview on Friday. Roman is also being sought for several offensive-coordinator openings. He interviewed for Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator position last week, and has an interview set up with Jacksonville on Saturday.

Former 49ers assistant offensive line coach Tim Drevno left his position with USC last week to re-join Harbaugh as Michigan’s offensive coordinator.

Despite the reports out of SF with no credible sources, I really don't think Ryan likes the Niners over us. Yeah he would have to rebuild our defense, but he made a lame Jets defense #1 in just one off season. Kap has regressed and teams have figured him out. It'll just be a similar situation of when he was with the Jets except he'll be in a tougher division.

Why not come here where we are in position to take over the NFCS in the way that the Pats have ruled the AFCE?
