Everyone remembers when we drafted Julio Jones, we were supposed to have the best receiving tandem in the NFL? Just an interesting stat, but in the four seasons that Jones and White have played together, there were only 3 games where both receivers had eclipsed 100 yards...and two of them were losses.

2011 Week 3 Loss against Tampa Bay

2011 Week 16 Loss against New Orleans

2012 Week 9 Win against Dallas.

Just an interesting and rather sad stat. Hopefully Julio the two will come together and put together better games in the future and more wins.

That doesn't mean they aren't the best, it just means teams need to choose which to try and take out of the game. They can't do that to both, which is the whole idea. Not to mention we do a lot of things with our #3 and even 4 receiver. Plus backs... there's only so many catches and yards to go around.

They were the best when Julio came into the league, but nowhere close now. Roddy can't beat 1v1 coverage consistently. He is now near Reggie Wayne level where he has to be hidden. Nothing wrong with that though because he is a savy route runner. He can still produce solid numbers opposite Julio and maybe even more if we had a running game and TE threat.

Actually a really good comparison on the pay front as well. Reggie is older and on the last year of his contract, but they both signed a 3 year contract for about $6 million per year. Roddy isn't quite the same guy, but he's not overpaid.

They're not even a top 20 duo now

They still would be top 10 if both were healthy. Hope that White comes back strong next year. If he can stay off the trainers table, he's got another couple of years as a solid player left. Would like to see a younger , faster player brought in to learn now.

Think putting Roddy in the slot and letting him be a possession receiver is a good idea.

Interesting Statistic On Roddy White And Julio Jones Duo

2014/2015

RW = 7td

JJ = 6 td

Dez = 16 td

T. Williams = 8 td

Neither RW/JJ led the NFCS in tds.

Something is wrong with our "O"...fundamentally.

Yep. Julio never seems to get targets inside the 5. We'll throw a fade to Hester or Douglas, but letting our athletic freak beat someone for the ball is Out. Of. The. Question. Gotta make you wonder.

They both had over 100 yards in the NFCCG as well

Julio caught a dozen passes where he ended up getting tackled inside the 5.

But yeah, they haven't run the fade much at all since Jenkins kept tip drilling them into INTs in 09.

How many of those were either thrown from outside the 20 or screens though? Koetter is just a typical OC who tries to prove how brilliant he is but usually ends up looking like an imbecile. A wheel route to our 5'5" RB on 3rd down from the 12? They'll never see it coming and if it works I'll look like a genius! Same applies for the endless fades to Douglas and Hester and stupid ******** like running Antone up the middle on 3rd and 1 or throwing deep to Hester of all people when any running play in the playbook probably wins the game.
