im a ryan defender because he is good enough to be "elite"

look at rodgers, brees, manning, brady.

When those guys are lacking good o-line play or run game they fall apart. Examples are the 4 manning interceptions vs the bengals and the patriots earlier this year against kansas city.

All of those quarterbacks have always had a good starting running back and o-line for most of their careers. When has matt had that?

You can't say matt should be winning everything when any of these quarterbacks have the same problems when they are lacking what we are.

Because a receiver's individual TD numbers determine how elite a QB is. For instance, when Rod Smith (the Broncos number 1 receiver and one of the greatest of all time) only caught 10 total touchdowns in the 1997 and 1998 seasons combined, it pointed to John Elway's lackluster QB play.

your arguing with swift, might as well put on a white-straight-jacket-outfit.jpg

Rod Smith is one of grwatest Wrs ever ? HUH ? Also your pointing out to end of Elway career when the Broncos made the transistion to more of a run ATTACK offense with Davis plus during the pre explosion of passing numbers those were solid numbers for that era

Interesting Question, what do you think makes an elite QB:

Right now the list by stats is:

1. Drew Brees playoffs = NO - considering to be elite = yes

2. Ben Roth playoffs = Yes - considering to be elite = ???

3. And Luck playoffs = Yes - considering to be elite = ???

4. Peyton Mann playoffs = Yes - considering to be elite = yes

5. Matt Ryan playoffs = NO - considering to be elite = ???

6. Eli Manning playoffs = NO - considering to be elite = ???

7. Aaron Rogers playoffs = Yes - considering to be elite = yes

8. Phillip Rivers playoffs = NO - considering to be elite = ???

9. Matt Staff playoffs = Yes - considering to be elite = ???

10. Tom Brady playoffs = Yes - considering to be elite = yes

so the top 10 has 4 Elites, some close calls, 6 teams in the playoffs.

seems odd our NON elite QB, who had no OL is 5th, and wait, is better than Rogers and Brady???

also seems odd, out of all 10 teams, the 4 not in the playoffs had some of the worst OL's, worst Def's, major injuries, poor coaching...blah blah.

not sure what Matt needs to accomplish to be Elite, winning a superbowl ring? Then the questions will be is one ring Enough?

please point out the one statistical issue Matt has, that is making us lose these games? 14 Int's? he would be 5th in the top 10.

the one stat that always appears for Matt is sacks ( ranked 3rd in the top 10 ), hurries, and no running game to speak of.

31 sacks for 201 yards lost for the year. cant find a legit site for hurries, but we all know its going to be insane number.

Running game, LOL...which back you want the stats of.

My wife watched him lose to Carolina. Her non-football pastime still led her to say Ryan stunk. Regardless of the sacks and good defensive coverage on our receivers she recognised cr@ppy play.

I'm sure you were trying to be funny bro but your wife doesn't know shyt from shynola. Send her back to the kitchen.

He quoted Simms as saying that Ryan is playing like an elite QB, and added that Simms is a smart and knowledgable person. His silence was because he didn't want to give this media which is obviously to get him (see Schultz) additional material.

The truth is that we don't know if Ryan can be elite or not, because we never gave him the chance to be one, so in reality we don't know. None of the elite QBs of this generation has ever had to cope with such poor protection, OK maybe Rodgers did, but he also had years when his protection was very good. The point is that we won't know the "elite ceiling" of Ryan until he has time to throw for most of a season like Manning, Brady, or Brees have.

Ryan played like a guy that didn't trust anything about this team. He didn't trust the line to protect him and so didn't always go through his progressions and often tried to force things. He didn't trust his running game to help him out so he seemed to try to do it all himself.

One thing that doesn't get talked about as much is the fact that it seemed he didn't always trust the play calling. There were times where it seemed that Matty wasn't running the plays with confidence of their success. For good reason. The offensive playbook is pretty vanilla and rarely had defenses guessing.

No QB is going to perform when things are this disjointed. You have to be able to establish some kind of a rhythm and chemistry with your unit. This Falcons offense never really was able to get anything going. The weaknesses kept killing it.

Why would Shaud allow the official rodent of TATF to use his account to spam?

To Shaud, PM me when you're ready to use your account for yourself and I'll gladly unban it.

LMAO. Pathetic swifty. Yelling from the rooftops for years how he's he done with this place and doesn't need the boards. Yet the crack-ho knows he's not wanted here, gets banned on sight, and still can't stay away.

Matt Ryan - pro QB, Millionaire >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> swift, works at a tanning salon. Not joking.

OMG when are we done with this "elite" horseshit?

What will it take for you people to understand that "elite" is a temporary designation fueled entirely by the most recent results?

It's like a broken ******* record around here.

Exactly , before the Panthers game the announcer said Ryan was an elite quarterback, but after the loss he is not now.

Therefore, Matt Ryan has been an elite QB several times in his career, as recently as before the Panthers game :)

The definition of elite QB is one who has the ability to put a team on his shoulders and deliver a W in the biggest game(s) of the year, even with sub-par OL, average WR's, doesn't matter. And by that same definition, this board has concluded that, over a wide range of games and situations, Matt isn't elite, but he's pretty dam good when he gets some blocking. And I agree with that.

**** any of you guys that think Matt Ryan even makes the Top Ten of Current Atlanta Falcons Problems.

Really.

Just **** you for being so "football stupid."

And I'm the furthest thing from being a Ryan "fanboy" you could ever possibly find on this MB.

There's 3-4 "elite" qbs in the league on a regular basis and when was the last time Brady or Peyton won a super Bowl? nobody says Eli Manning is "elite" but hes got 2 rings so who cares whos elite and whos not, we should be glad we have a "good" qb cause theres only about 10qb's in the league that are "good"
